There are quite a few bids up for the taking, and several great Lone Star teams are hoping to snatch one up. Volume 1 features Xcel 161 Adidas, Houston Skyline 15 Black, Roots 17 UA, and highlights players who are making them successful.
Xcel 161 Adidas
Xcel Volleyball 161 Adidas has some serious talent that has been developed this season. Peyton Spahn, who is a right side for her team, puts up some big numbers for blocking and has a great line shot on offense. Setter Peyton Fadal Peyton Fadal 5'9" | S Barbers Hill | 2024 State TX is exceptional for Xcel. Her hands are strong, and her placement is amazing. She works to jump set the toughest of passes. Rounding out a solid Xcel team is middle Tanishua (Ty) Joseph. Yes her elevation is amazing, but her snap is wicked fast on the ball. She is in the air making contact before blockers know what to do. She will be an athlete to keep on your radar as she develops.
Houston Skyline 15 Black
Houston Skyline 15 black is the second national team for Houston Skyline, and this team plays above par. Coming in the weekend ranked 4th overall, they will have a great chance to catch a bid to nationals. Layne Bulow Layne Bulow 5'10" | DS/L Fort Bend Christian Academy | 2025 State TX , who is a 6 rotation athlete, will definitely be a contender to lead the team to success. She’s not a heavy hitter, but a consistent team player who can place the ball and earn points for her team. Another player I like from this team is setter/right side Kate Kuehn. She boasts a pretty good right side block as well as provide her team with a great set!
Roots 17 UA
Roots 17 UA is having a great year. The club out of Austin, Texas, is hosting some great 17’s on the team, one being Madison Disu, middle blocker. Madison is an agile middle who can pass, swing, block, and transition really well. She has great connection with her setters, and loves to hit a variety of sets. Evie Naumann, who plays outside hitter, is another big contributing factor for Roots. She has a big approach to the ball and likes to attack the line and split as well. Rounding out a solid offense for Roots 17 UA is Nia Cummings Nia Cummings 5'11" | MB Cedar Park | 2023 State TX at the second middle blocker position. It will be interesting to see if Roots 17 UA can pull out a bid this weekend, with their high powered offense assisting them.
