We are just over a month away from the Class of 2024 being able to have open communication in regards to recruiting starting on June 15, 2022. For months, athletes have been sending one way responses of updating coaches without coaches legally being able to respond in regards to recruiting. The cryptic likes on social media with kids and coaches asking – does a like on a tweet mean their interested? Or they said they want me to come to camp – but how interested are they? Well, those conversations can be had starting June 15 and I am going to take a dive into the Class of 2024. This first part will be athletes who have the ability to be high impact players, but just might be a little under the radar….for now. Here are some sleepers who need to be contacted on June 15.
Samantha Falk Samantha Falk DS/L Mother McAuley | 2024 State IL – 1st Alliance 16 Gold
I have seen Falk play at the high school and club level and her consistency no matter the situation is something that continually impresses me. She is extremely dependable in serve receive, picks up all the garbage off the tips, blocks, and block coverage, and knows how to play within herself in big moments. She plays for one of the top high school programs in Mother McAuley and top clubs in 1st Alliance 16 Gold who has been making it a routine to play in Gold matches come day three of qualifiers. To be successful in both of these programs it takes a lot of discipline and top level intangibles, but Falk has that!
Bryn Janke Bryn Janke 5'10" | S Wisconsin Dells | 2024 State WI – FC Elite 18 Elite
Jahnke was one of the unsung heroes of FC Elite 18 Elite and their run to a final four finish at the USAV 18 Open nationals a couple weeks ago. She’s a small town kid from Wisconsin with a gritty work ethic. There isn’t a ton of flash to her game, but she comes up big in big moments whether its with a nasty serve or putting the ball right on the money for her attackers. She knows how to hit the tempos and make the right decision in a key moment. Even though she hasn’t been playing on the 16s courts, she is definitely one to have on the radar heading into the summer.
Mia Loyd Mia Loyd 5'6" | S Terre Haute South | 2024 State IN – Circle City 18 Purple
Lloyd is another 2024 who was playing up two age levels with the Circle City 18 Purple squad who finished in the sweet sixteen of 18 Open in Phoenix. Mia Lloyd is uber athletic, she makes plays happen on the court. She may be a little undersized for some at the Power 5 level, but she is a flat out gamer. She knows how to play the game the right way. Circle City knows how to do it with their setters and Lloyd is right in that category. She will be able to command the court and run the show – she was one of the clear standouts at our Indiana Top 250 and will be exciting to see where her recruiting process takes her.
Sophie Ledbetter Sophie Ledbetter 5'9" | DS/L Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State IN – Academy 16E Yeti
Another Indianapolis area prospect, Ledbetter is a swiss army type athlete where she could do a lot of things at the next level. She has shown she can swing and score on the pin, but she is rock solid in the backrow as well. Watching her at Triple Crown and MEQ, I could see how she is able to handle a bulk or the serve receive duties with a quiet platform that results in being able to keep her side in system. She has a lot of range and is also a swing out of the backrow as well.
Jaimie Marquardt Jaimie Marquardt 5'9" | DS/L Libertyville | 2024 State IL – Sky High 16 Adidas Elite
Marquardt has been a backcourt commander for Sky High who has been a solid open squad all season, being a day two gold pool type team. Marquardt is the libero who wants the ball, she has a savvy IQ to her game where she reads and anticipates extremely well. She’s extremely athletic where she knows what needs to be done to keep the ball up, even on a second contact. This Sky High 16s team has a lot of athletes that coaches will be in touch with where they have multiple weapons offensively and defensively.
Jae Fitting Jae Fitting 5'8" | DS/L Cedarburg | 2024 State WI – MKE Sting 16 Gold
Fitting has filled a really key role for this 16 Gold team from Sting who wrapped up an Open bid from Windy City and won The Open by Prep Dig in Cleveland a week ago. As a key DS, Fitting provides a steady and consistent defensive presence. She can play multiple positions out of the backrow and has an extremely high IQ as well. This team is dangerous where they are starting to play their best volleyball at the right time. Each player has found their role and has been able to step up in extremely key moments.
Some 16s to note this morning in 16 Open Gold Pool Play
Isabelle Elliott Isabelle Elliott 6'0" | OH Sumner-Fredericksburg | 2024 State #130 Nation IA – @6packvbc
Marissa Cahoy – @6packvbc
Madison Cugino – @MintonetteSport
Emerson Sellman – @MetroVBCofDC— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) April 16, 2022
Isabelle Elliott Isabelle Elliott 6'0" | OH Sumner-Fredericksburg | 2024 State #130 Nation IA – Six Pack 16-1
Six Pack is 44-11 on the season and has been in day three gold pool contention in all of their qualifiers this past season. Elliott has been playing on the right side for Six Pack where she provides a big block and heavy swing. She is extremely physical and athletic where she has a big time presence on the court. She’s the type of athlete who can play any front row position and is someone who will be able to play in the backrow and be an even bigger point scorer. This Six Pack squad has a lot of athletes who have the ability to play at a high level in college.
Ava Pratt Ava Pratt 6'1" | OH Glenbrook South | 2024 State #63 Nation IL – Adversity 17 Adidas
The only reason why I say that Pratt is a sleeper is that you won’t find her on a 16s court. This 2024 outside has been playing up with the 17s and dominating at this level. She is a solid six rotation outside where she brings a violent, heavy swing where she can attack from both pins and out of the middle. She also brings a high IQ where she can take what the defense gives her going hard cross or turning it down the line. Her ceiling is extremely high for potential where she has such a solid foundational skill set and with an expanded backcourt game she will be real tough to stop.
