Continue ReadingWe have been watching the 2023 class very closely throughout the entire club season. A lot of the analysis has come from watching these players in person. We have also been watching the amazing footage that has been uploaded to everyone’s recruiting profiles in order to determine placement. We have been talking to a lot of coaches across the country and this class is littered with college prospects. The following players showed us all that they deserved to be moved up the rankings due to their individual performances.
Kate Hansen Kate Hansen 6'3" | MB Weatherford | 2023 State #67 Nation TX [2023] 6-3 Middle (HS: Weatherford /Club: Texas Advantage /Verbal: Texas Tech)
We are proud to announce that Kate has moved up the rankings. She went from being listed as the 7th best overall prospect to now being listed as the 5th best overall prospect in the state and 2nd best middle in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She was also just listed as the 65th best overall prospect in the entire nation recently by Prep Dig as well. We have written about Miss Hansen a few times since we rolled out our publication a few years ago, but she still seems to impress us when we watch her in person. Here is a little from our latest article on her back in December from a tournament I saw her at, “Kate absolutely HOUSED many opponents over the course of the weekend which made me turn away in disgust multiple times as it was hard to watch someone get destroyed by her. She recently opened up her recruitment again and whoever is lucky enough to pick her up is going to get an absolute STUD. In my opinion, she is a game changing middle who can help a team on both ends of the court. I will never get tired of watching her play in person. If you get a chance, stop by her court and you won’t be disappointed.” We have been following her team very closely this year. I have seen them in person at four tournaments and Miss Hansen is still getting better with each performance. She wowed me earlier in the year and I decided to reward her with movement up the rankings. She bounced back from a small ankle roll and is now ready to play lights out at nationals. We will be in person to watch that for sure. Please congratulate her on the special achievement of moving up the rankings.
Alex Bull Alex Bull 6'2" | MB Magnolia | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-2 Middle (HS: Magnolia/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Bull has made one of the largest jumps in the State Rankings in this update. She went from being listed as the 116th best overall prospect to now being listed as the 33rd best overall prospect. Guillerme Torres wrote about her a while back and here is a little from his article on her, “Her presence at the net is extremely valuable for W Revolution 16 Premier. On offense of defense, the 6’2” middle blocker is as reliable as it gets and her best game typically comes out when the team most needs her. She has a really fast approach on offense and due to her great reach and perfect timing, she can hit difficult sets down the middle. Her blocking skills leave nothing to be desired either as she moves well at the net and does a great job in taking up space from opposing hitters. Bull is coming from a great high school season with Oak Ridge in which she registered 123 kills and 85 blocks.” I was able to watch her a few times in action this season and she has impressed me enough to move her up the list this far. She has proven herself to be one of the best middles in the state. I know her high school coach very well and will be discussing Alex’s journey soon. We are proud to reward her hard work with movement up the rankings. Please help us congratulate her on the movement up the rankings.
Claire Dewine Claire Dewine 6'1" | S The Woodlands | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-1 Setter (HS: The Woodlands/Club: Houston Juniors /Verbal: Colgate)
Miss Dewine has made a HUGE jump in the State Rankings in this update. She went from being listed as the 139th best overall prospect to now being listed as the 55th best overall prospect and 8th best setter in the state of Texas according to our State Rankings List. Guillerme Torres wrote about her a while back and here is a little from his article on her, “A very complete player, Claire used to play a lot of different roles for her high school and previous club teams. She focused only on setting after joining Houston Juniors this season and became even better at it. Dewine has excellent size for the position at 6’1” and is very technical and intelligent. She seems to always be very calm on the court and rarely makes a bad decision. Dewine is also a very good server and defender and does an excellent job when setting against the flow of play. She recently committed to Colgate University.” I have watched her in person a few times this year and she wowed me with her precision and accuracy in the setting position. She is very technically sound and that doesn’t surprise me at all with such great coaching behind her at HJV. They have pumped out some amazing setters over the years and she is definitely on the list of great ones to come out of their program. She has proven herself to me on the court and we are happy to reward her with moving up the rankings. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement of being listed amongst the best of the best.
