They are slated to host their first tryouts this summer and will have a full range of teams from 11-18’s for the 2022-23 club season. I sat down with Houston Skyline BCS Executive Director Kacie Street and talked about this new adventure. Take a look at our interview below, and the exciting things coming to Bryan-College Station.
With so many clubs to chose from, why should athletes consider Houston Skyline BCS when deciding on a club this summer? Houston Skyline BCS is afiliated with Houston Skyline, the number 1 ranked club in the Lone Star Region for the past 5 years. The same organization, programming, college recruting and elite training that we have come to know and love will be availible at the BCS location. Houston Skyline BCS has also partnered with League One Volleyball (LOVB), which provides athletes with even more resources and high level training.
The LOVB partnership will include holistic athlete training such as mind, body, craft, and skill development beyond the sport. LOVB will also provide scholarships, a national level recruting platform, pathways to Pro levels in the US, and access to a lifelong LOVB community just to name a few.
The coaching line up for Houston Skyline BCS is set for the upcoming season. Some notible coaches are familar names in collegiate volleyball such as All-American Hollan Hans, Haley Slocum Conner, Taylor Voss, and Allison Fields. Current collegiate volleyball players from Texas A&M are in the mix as well, as well as current high school head coaches Colten Conner of A&M Consolidated and Jacky Pence of Rudder High School. Coach Street says they club is excited about all of their coaches because they all share the same passion for volleyball, the drive to succeed at the highlest level, and will strive to create a positive environment for athletes.
Houston Skyline BCS will also put emphasis on their youth program. Players can begin training as early as 5 years old in the STARS program, and thier Club Prep League will provide skills and court training. No experience is required for these programs and emphasis is put on building technical skills, court awareness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. There is truly a place for all levels with in their program.
We asked coach Street how Houston Skyline BCS will change the volleyball landscape for the area, being full of talented players and organizations. Having grown up in College Station, coch Street understands the foundation already in place. Houston Skyline BCS looks to build on that existing foundation and and implement a top to bottom programming to enhance the level of competition. Having been involved in the Houston Skyline location for 10 years as a coach and an assistant director, coach Street has experienced first hand how Houston Skyline’s programming can develope athletes and teams into top of the line competitors.
Houston Skyline BCS has a streamline mission. To serve the area well and grow the game of volleyball, provide athletes with high level training, and provide a community for life. With bonding opportunities and fun events for players, families, and coaches, it won’t just feel like a volleyball team, it will feel like family.
