The legacy that is Kiva Volleyball has been built by founder Ron Kordes’ genuine passion for the sport and pursuit to help players in his program reach the potential he sees in each of them. Giving athletes an opportunity to succeed is just what Kiva does and what sparked Kordes’ idea to begin Kiva’s High School Elite Camp at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center, 30 years ago. Elite camp consists of four sessions over two days with each session being 3 hours, making it high intensity and filled with many reps for the 120 players in attendance. Although the intensity is far more than your usual volleyball camp, Elite Camp is especially unique with each court being run by college coaches who bring their own drills and emotion they would have on their home court. Elite Camp isn’t easy but pushes players to extend their athleticism in a setting that you would normally see in a college practice all while allowing players to be seen by coaches from all over.
Here are today’s names from Session 1 of Kiva’s Elite camp to keep in mind when out recruiting for the remainder of the season:
Jersey Loyer Jersey Loyer 5'10" | OH Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran | 2024 State IN (OH/L) Summit Volleyball- 16 Blue Elite ’24
Jersey is a natural athlete in all aspects of the game. Between her approach touch of 9’6″ attacking out of the front row with her wide range of shots and her will to keep the ball off the ground in defense, Jersey is an all-around baller. She is certainly a player to keep an eye on for the remainder of the season and throughout her high school season at Concordia Lutheran High School.
Elise Marchal Elise Marchal 6'0" | MB Kings | 2024 State #118 Nation OH (MB) Elevation Volleyball- 16 Butcher ’24
As a 6-foot middle blocker, Elise gets the job done with a smile on her face. Her work ethic as a middle is unmatched, which is what makes her so successful as a blocker and produces points offensively. Whether it’s her ripping a ball off two feet in front, or making an audible for a set-off one foot behind, she can bury the ball. With her sense of urgency, quickness in her feet, and having an extraordinary approach touch of 10’2″, there really isn’t much she can’t make happen.
Kiana Dinn (S/OH/OPP) Tri-State Elite – 16 Blue ’24
Don’t underestimate Kiana’s size, you see real quick how big she actually plays. Touching 9’10” when attacking and utilizing her great hand contact and wrist control, she can put the ball anywhere on the court. While this athleticism makes her a bigger player than she might be seen physically, her court presence is unwavering.
Alexis Strong Alexis Strong 6'1" | OH Assumption | 2023 State KY (OH/OPP) Kiva- 17 Red ’23
Strong’s ability to compete as both an outside and right-side attacker this season was made very clear at Elite Camp. If it means she gets to compete, she is up for it and works hard while doing it. She has power behind her swing and a block lineup that forces any hitter to adjust away from her hands. It comes as no surprise that Alexis Strong Alexis Strong 6'1" | OH Assumption | 2023 State KY is ranked #25 in Prep Digs player rankings in Kentucky.
Avrey Rigney Avrey Rigney OH Madison Central | 2024 State KY (OPP) Lexington United- 76 Adidas ’24
As a blocker, Rigney puts up a wall to hit around if you were to be lined up against her. Her natural arm swing making contact at 9’10” makes any defender have a hard time picking up her swings. She does a great job tracking the set and having every intention of bettering the ball.
Kate White Kate White 5'10" | RS Colerain | 2023 State OH (OPP/DS) Tri-State Elite – 17-1 ’23
White is a left-handed, 6-rotation right-side hitter who makes effortless defensive moves in the back court and has power swings up at the net. She is athletic and her movements on the court show that. Disciplined is the best word to describe how she plays, from her natural platfrom on serve receive to her well equipt offensive toolbox in the front row, she makes it all look effortless.
