In a collaboration between USA volleyball and Prep Dig, we were able to create one awesome event full of some top notch talents, coaches and scouts to play some volleyball and show off some skills. The best part too, there’s a whole other session after this one to kick off the final block of nationals on June 30th too!
But for now, let’s take a look at who impressed at the USAV x Prep Dig showcase, Session I.
Sadie Reich – 6’0 OH – Sportime
Another high flying attacker on the left side, Sadie Reich showed off a lot of potential in her play. With a good jump and a mechanically sound swing, Reich can deliver a big swing. Reich also showed off a pretty deceptive and killer line shot.
Ashton Nelson – 5’11 OH – 949
Ashton Nelson is a very lengthy player with a high reach despite what her height may indicate. Nelson knows how to spread the ball around the court with a great high snap on the ball and stellar wrist action.
Chloe Johnson – 5’11 OH – Flyers
Another deceptive player given her height, Chloe Johnson can reach a pretty high zone in the stratosphere and bring down a booming ball. Johnson has a great efficient swing that can find the floor with some pace.
Kennedy Vaughan – 5’11 OH – United
Kennedy Vaughan was one of the more physical attackers of the group and really knows how to bring a pop to her game. With a big pop on her jump, she follows up with another on her swing. Utilizing her entire body to bring some heat, Vaughan is hard to slow down.
Caydence Doolan – 5’9 OH – Liberty Elite
Caydence Doolan is another heavy boomer in the group of big time outside attackers. I like a player who can handle taking the ball more than once and this is Doolan. She is more than comfortable putting up a great first contact and transitioning to put away a thunderous third ball.
Brooklyn Drumwright – 6’0 OH – 949
It’s quite a feat at this age to have that “slow to fast” approach when attacking the volleyball, as a lot want to go, go, go! Or go too late. Brooklyn Drumwright really uses this approach to her advantage, seeing the ball and the court across from her and then totally unleashing on the ball. Drumwright was making great adjustments hitting off of so many setters.
Ceci Vence – 5’11 OH – ARVC
I really loved watching this player at the showcase. Ceci Vence has a fascinating swing that utilizes this circular motion with her shoulder to produce some heat. Vence is fast off the ground and is quick to the ball. She was a constant go-getter during the showcase which should translate greatly to the court.
Madison Hooper – 6’1 OH – Ozark Juniors
Another high flier with a lot of fire power on her side, Madison Hooper can get up and get on the ball with a lot of velocity. Hooper was a big presence throughout the showcase with her offense leading a lot of attention her way.
Victoria Otter – 6’0 MB – Ozark Juniors
Right alongside teammate Hooper, Victoria Otter was another standout from the showcase from Ozark Juniors. Otter was one of the best blockers you’d find here. Her lateral footwork and read for the offense was tough to contend with if you were an opposing attacker. Off the net, she was always available and up in transition.
Ruth Ochelli – 6’0 MB/OPP – Houston Skyline
i love an attacker who can play multiple positions, Ruth Ochelli can be slotted in the middle or on the right pin and she will deliver. Ochelli is physical with a heavy arm and a versatile arm. One of the top attackers of the showcase, Ochelli will be a force to watch over the next few years.
