Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite: Open
In Open play, you enter the tournament knowing the first two days are going to be a gauntlet and that’s what Rockwood saw running into three teams who would finish in the top 10. They were able to get a win off of a couple of teams but not enough to stay in the group 1 pools after their first five matches. They bounced back to win all three of their next contests before falling in the flight 2 opening match to Norco 16 Black in three. Morgan Christine Dumm Morgan Christine Dumm 5'11" | S Francis Howell | 2025 State MO and Alyssa Nelson Alyssa Nelson 5'8" | S Wildwood | 2024 State MO had a good week.
HPSTL 16 Royal: National
We shared in our preview this team had the pieces to compete for a title after missing out on qualifying in the open division. They rolled through the first three days not dropping a set! They looked primed heading into the final day but lost their opening gold bracket match to Dakine Warriors in straight sets to finish the tournament 8-1. Grace Killion Grace Killion 5'11" | OH Cor Jesu | 2024 State MO continues to be a steady contributor to this team along with Audrey Small Audrey Small 5'6" | DS/L Fort Zumwalt West | 2024 State MO in the back row.
Rockwood Thunder 16 Navy: USA
16 Navy had a promising start winning their first three matches and four of the first five to advance out of pool play still in contention. After pools were reshuffled they hit hard times losing both matches and then falling in their crossover match. They would finish the championships 4-5.
Missouri Juniors 16-M: Liberty
One Missouri team came home with hardware in the 16s age group by means of the Liberty division in Missouri Juniors. They left Indy with the bronze medals after an 8-1 four-day run. Autumn Bax Autumn Bax 5'11" | RS Blair Oaks | 2024 State #188 Nation MO continues to see her stock rise. Juniors dropped only three sets along the way. Joining Bax on the All-Tournament team were Hannah Vogt Hannah Vogt 5'7" | S Jefferson City | 2024 State MO and Kylee Richey Kylee Richey 6'2" | MB Versailles | 2025 State MO .
HP South-16 Premier: Liberty
HP South was only able to scratch out one win in pool play. The good thing was they didn’t hang their heads and came back to win three straight before dropping a three-setter in the bronze bracket.
Invasion 16 Black: Liberty
Invasion had a 6th place finish in the Liberty division giving the Kansas City area a high finisher. They had bookend losses in pool play to finish 3-2 and stay in the top grouping heading into re-pool action. They took care of business in these contests before dropping a heart-breaking crossover battle versus Actyve in three. They came back swinging in the silver bracket knocking out AP 16 Adidas with a 15-13 third set. However, they would drop their final match in straight sets. Abigail Widhalm made her way onto the All-Tournament team.
HPSTL 16 Orange: Liberty
A 2-3 pool record moved 16 Orange to the 2nd group after pool play and out of title contention. They bounced back to win two of their next three including the pivotal crossover match. In Flight 2 they were defeated by PVA 16 Elite in a spirited contest that saw two sets go extra points.
