Barbers Hill has a long history of excellence within its’ athletic programs, especially girls’ sports. In the last two years, the Lady Eagles have only lost 10 matches; last year alone, the program had 39 wins. Coach Casey Veen has high expectations for her star-studded roster. One of their few losses came in the Regional Quarterfinals to Manvel, who would eventually move on to the state tournament. While Barbers Hill did graduate quite a few seniors in 2022, the incoming junior and senior class will more than makeup for the loss. Below we will analyze a few key players for the Lady Eagles, and discuss their path to a state appearance.
Returning to the district championship squad is junior setter Peyton Fadal Peyton Fadal 5'9" | S Barbers Hill | 2024 State TX . Peyton has had an impressive year with XCEL volleyball club, running a very fast offense. As the only returning setter, look for her to run the offense this season. That will be easy to do with a loaded offensive front. Two returning outside hitters Jaci Meredith and Aemilie Broussard will carry some offensive load, as well as returning hitter Peyton Spahn Peyton Spahn 5'10" | RS Barbers Hill | 2024 State TX Peyton has turned into one of the premier right sides in the Houston area. Not only does she hit well, but she is also a great block. She will join an already great Houston Stellar 17 Elite team next club season.
Barbers Hill will also be loaded in the middle position this upcoming season with returner Avery Wilks Avery Wilks 6'0" | MB Barbers Hill | 2023 State TX , who has an absolutely insane snap on the ball. She is fast pin to pin, and her block to transition offense is very fast as well which allows her to be integral in the offense. If you haven’t seen Avery play, she is fun to watch. The Lady Eagles will also rely heavily on Chloe Morgan Chloe Morgan 6'0" | MB Barbers Hill | 2024 State TX who has gotten a lot of traction this off-season. Playing for a really good TAV Houston team, Chloe was able to improve a lot this spring. She is very versatile and can give you a great serve as well as some defense. She has improved her confidence in herself and it shows in her play.
All in all, Barbers Hill looks good to repeat as district champions. Being in a new district, there will be some surprises, but they will be ready. The playoff experience of the returning junior and senior class will play a pivotal role in the postseason.
