Both teams were pretty evenly matched, but Green County ended up pulling all three close sets 25-20, 25-21, and 25-19. Allen County-Scottsville fought hard for the comeback but fell short because of Green County’s quick offense and defensive pursuit. Here are four players that truly impacted the game and showed out as studs.
Lila Stone- I particularly enjoyed watching this Green County junior middle blocker because of how involved she was in every play. Middle hitters may go through all three of their rotations and never get set if the team can’t pass, but Lila Stone found a way to keep herself in the game. She worked hard in transition, picked up tips if she didn’t block, and you could just tell she poured her heart into every play. Stone ended the game with a match high of 4 blocks and added 5 kills.
Chloe Simpson Chloe Simpson OH Green County | 2024 State KY – The second Green County player that caught my eye was junior outside hitter, Chloe Simpson Chloe Simpson OH Green County | 2024 State KY . She managed to help the team in every aspect against Allen County whether it be going up for the big-time kill or digging a ball in the back row to save the day. Simpson was also heavily involved in their serve receive patterns and helped out the team passing wise. Plus, Simpson went on many service runs with her little jump floater which helped keep Green County in the lead. Her stats just showed the impact she made with the team high of 7 kills, 9 digs, and 3 service aces.
Ana Walker- The lone senior from Allen County-Scottsville shows up to lead the team every time she hits the floor. I bet you haven’t seen anything like her because this kid is an all-around middle hitter! In the front row, she is the obvious go-to because of her heavy arm but also for her big heart. Walker is the team leader and not just with words, but she always follows through her with her game play whether it be going on a service run, getting that big-time block, or making that huge swing for the team. She’s your senior that you always want in the game.
Ava Kinslow Ava Kinslow 5'5" | DS/L Allen County-Scottsville | 2024 State KY – Lastly, I want to highlight Ava Kinslow Ava Kinslow 5'5" | DS/L Allen County-Scottsville | 2024 State KY who plays for Allen County as a junior right side and a setter. Allen County runs a 6’2, so Kinslow sets in the back row and hits in the front row; therefore, she is also always in the game and impacts the team from every angle. Kinslow does a great job setting in the back row and choosing the right set when needed. Plus, she has a good connection with big hitter, Ana Walker, so Kinslow can even set her out of system. Then, in the front row, Kinslow hits right side and has that innate ability to stay open and hit line which is significantly helpful for the squad since it’s so hard to defend. Kinslow will continue to be a vital part of the team!
