Coweta Invitational Recap

We will talk about each team, the all tournament team and the final standings. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Coweta Invitational was a round robin format. Meaning each team played every team attending one time each. Of the 8 teams attending, 5 of those teams made the state tournament last season. It is looking like 5, if not 6, will be making it this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Lawton MacArthur</em> finished as the overall champion. They finished the tournament with a 6-1 record. The only loss came day two against Glenpool 18-25 18-25. Their front row based on size and athleticism is possibly the best in the state. Some top players for them, MB Alyana Vines, OH [player_tooltip player_id='156861' first='Bailey' last='Lowder'], and S Mariah Gaede.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Piedmont</em> is the real thing. They may not have won the whole tournament but I would pick them to win it 8 out of 10 times. Their only loss was to Lawton Mac on day one 10-15 in the 3rd. Look for this team to go deep in the playoffs. Some top players for them, OH [player_tooltip player_id='145962' first='Kaylie' last='Marshall'], MB [player_tooltip player_id='206198' first='Aleeyah' last='Hamblin'], and OH [player_tooltip player_id='212435' first='Chesnie' last='Caudill']. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Glenpool</em> put together quite the weekend, finishing 5-2. Led by a senior OH and two stellar freshman. This team is quickly stepping out of the underdog position and into the big dawg in the yard. Wins over Claremore, Carl Albert, Lawton Mac and Coweta will make a strong case for being top 5 in the first rankings. Some top players for them, OH Macy Mabray, RH Saniya Craven, and MB Tyra McKinnie.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Carl Albert</em> isn't as dominating as years past but they can play. They ended the tournament 4th overall and 4-3 overall. [player_tooltip player_id='143130' first='Emily' last='Boyer'] is legit as a setter/hitter comb and overall phenomenal teammate. Pair that with two outside hitters that are very controlled and take some really smart shots. They can make another run in state. Some top players for them, S [player_tooltip player_id='143130' first='Emily' last='Boyer'], OH Madison Stuart and OH Kailey Stuart. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Coweta</em> was the host team and finished 5th overall going 3-4 overall. They went 2-2 on day 1. Picking up a quality wins over Glenpool and Tahlequah. Their two losses were to Sapulpa and Carl Albert. Three of their four matches on day one went to a 3rd set. Day two was not as friendly to them, as they went 1-2 with their one win coming by way of 3rd set over Claremore. Some top players for them, Olivia Brand, Alexis Shauffler, and S Abby Upton. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Claremore</em> had some really good sets over the weekend. 20-25 with Mac, 21-25 with Carl Albert, went 3 with Coweta and beat Sapulpa and Tahlequah. Their hitting efficiency and untimely errors kept them from picking any more quality wins. They have the tools that, if put together properly, could turn into a solid run towards the end. Some top players for them, OH Ella Ramsey, MB Ella Irvin and S Hannah Dorsey.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Sapulpa</em> was also close to having a solid weekend. They did get a win over Coweta that will help build the resume. Any win in this tournament will help bolster your chances of moving up in the rankings. Some top players for them, MB Stailee Heard, MB Wrigley Adkisson, DS [player_tooltip player_id='145996' first='Kinzie' last='Wagner']. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Tahlequah</em> had a tough weekend.
