We are, as usual, centering our coverage around promoting the most intriguing prospects around the state with articles that will highlight their standout performances and statistical milestones and also team features.
As much as possible, we’ll also try to every Tuesday and Friday preview an interesting match that’s set to happen around the state, pointing out the most impressive prospects that will be on the court in that encounter. Today we’ll focus on the Austin area and, more specifically, on the duel between the Cedar Ridge Raiders (24-15) and the Vandergrift Vipers (17-20), which is set to begin at 6.30 PM.
Cedar Ridge
The high-flying outside hitter has been on fire this season and has been leading Cedar Ridge on the court with great performances and excellent production. An extremely athletic prospect, Patmon has been using her physical tools to shine at the net and will very likely reach her 400th kill in the season against Vandergrift as she enters the match with 399. She also leads the team in aces (28) and ranks third in digs (271) and passes (385).
Nyla Lewis
Nyla Lewis
Originally a middle blocker, Lewis switched to the right this season and has been doing an excellent job at her new position with Cedar Ridge. On the right, she’s more available to use her tremendous offensive player to help the team and also gets to impact the game with her blocking. Capable of hitting quicker or higher sets, Lewis ranks third in kills (109) and leads the Raiders in blocks (37).
Emily Stock
Emily Stock
A setter with great size and even better hands, Stock has been running Cedar Ridge’s offense smartly this season, getting several hitters involved and having her three main scorers at very good kill rates. The playmaker is averaging nearly seven assists per set for a season total of 615 and has also contributed with 235 digs and 22 aces.
Vandergrift

A long and technical outside hitter, Beauchamp uses her skills and her intelligence to generate the bulk of her points production. Excellent with her decision-making at the net, she typically picks the right option and makes very few mistakes with her offense. Capable of playing on either pin, Beauchamp leads the Vipers in kills (268) and passes (381) and ranks third in digs (185) and blocks (32).
One of the top setters in the entire state, the talented Mattox is making the most of her strong hitter with Vandergrift. Extremely accurate even when out-of-system, Mattox makes her hitters’ lives easier with her precise sets and intelligent distribution. She’s on pace to end her high school career with north of 3,000 assists, having already tallied 833 this season alone, and has also been helping the Vipers on the backcourt, ranking second in digs (187) and aces (32).
Highlights
The long and athletic Boyer has been a stud in the middle for Vandergrift. With her 6’3″ frame and a very high volleyball IQ, she has no trouble making her presence felt on both sides of the ball. Boyer has been in great form in her senior season, ranking second in kills (179) and leading the team in blocks (71).
