Only taking the best of the best from each division, we have returning state champions, alongside some heavy favorites for this year’s tournament. It’s all here at the St. Joe’s Sports Complex at Schoolcraft College.
Let’s take a look at the teams in attendance and what they’re bringing to the showdown.
North Muskegon
Coming into the Showdown ranked No. 15 in Division 3, this is a west side team that could cause a lot of fits for teams this weekend and in November. North Muskegon is lead by senior OH Natalie Pannucci Natalie Pannucci 5'11" | MB North Muskegon | 2023 State MI and OH/MB Joslynne Bogner. Pannucci and Bogner pair up for one killer combination at the net. Pannucci has a major hammer on the left side while Bogner’s versatility as a middle or a pin gives the Norsemen a lot of different looks.
Oscoda
With only four losses thus far on the season, Oscoda is another team that is very under-the-radar but not to be counted out. This squad is very young with about the entirety of the lineup consisting of underclassmen. Of the few seniors on the roster, MB Mia Whipkey leads this team in more ways than her offense, but a true leader that fires up her group when it’s time to compete.
Riverview Gabriel Richard
Watch out for this crew come Saturday at Schoolcraft College! This group right here boasts a real athletic and tough roster to play against. Some of the biggest names are MB Faith Sibert, OH Natalie Neubecker Natalie Neubecker 5'9" | OH Riverview Gabriel Richard | 2024 State MI and OH Delaney Cousino Delaney Cousino 5'7" | OH Riverview Gabriel Richard | 2024 State MI . Sibert is dominating 6’2 middle with a huge pop to her jump and swing, while Neubecker and Cousino are both consistent forces on the left side for Riverview.
Traverse City St. Francis
Another team traveling the distance for this epic event comes all the way from the Leelanau Peninsula. Traverse City St. Francis is another young, but exciting team to see live this weekend. The Gladiators currently sit pretty atop the Lake Michigan Conference standings with a perfect record thus far. Despite their youth, they seem to be having a huge season. Leading the pack is freshman OH Quinn Yenshaw Quinn Yenshaw 6'0" | OH Traverse City St. Francis | 2026 State MI , serving as the team’s leader in scoring so far this season.
West Michigan Christian
West Michigan Christian is coming off of a historic run in 2021, going all the way to the Division 3 Semifinals. This season may be considered a rebuilding year after losing such elite players as the Wiersema sisters, but they still remain one of the top teams in the state. WMC returns one of the top setters in Division 3 in Kendal Young Kendal Young 5'9" | S West Michigan Christian | 2023 State MI . Young is coming off of a great season with FaR Out’s top 17’s team and continues to lead her teams in epic fashion.
