Longtime head coach Kathy Stephenson is developing a new team this year and some of her most important players are outside hitter Natalie Tagen and setter Vivian Gray.
Key Players
Natalie Tagen
Natalie Tagen
The team’s tallest hitter at 5’10”, Tagen has an important role in scoring points for the Eagles. She has good size and long arms, making contact with the ball at a very high point. Tagen also has good firepower on her right arm, which comes in handy when she needs to hit an out-of-system set. She also gets the job done with her passing.
Vivian Gray
Vivian Gray
The team’s starting setter has a good combination of size and mobility on the court. The 5’7″ Gray does a good job with her ball distribution and likes to run a fast-paced offense, using her middles as much as she can during matches. She’s also a very good server and works really hard on defense to keep the ball up.
Deanne Boateng
Deanne Boateng
Boateng makes a good impact on the game with her length and physical tools. She has good size, jumps well and has very long arms. She can score on offense because of her high contact point but still has a lot of room for improvement in that area of her game. It’s the same with her block as she poses a threat to opposing hitters with her size, but can grow in terms of reading the game and her blocking technique.
Riley Dorsey
Riley Dorsey
Dorsey is an effective player at the net for the Eagles. She has very good offensive potential, using her reach and power to overcome opposing blockers and score points from the pin. Her length also makes of her a very productive blocker. On the backcourt, however, she has some room for improvement.
Miah Zarate
Miah Zarate
Zarate makes noticeable improvements on Cypress Falls’ backcourt production when she’s on the court. The diminutive defender has very good ball control and generates several transition opportunities for the team with her digs. She’s solid with her passing too and is smart enough to recognize when a good serve is coming her way and play it safe, passing the ball high in the center of the court.
