The first team from this region of the state is West Brook High School. This squad is led by coach Talon Morgan who is placing more emphasis on player relationships this season. Particularly, Coach Morgan is focused on setters growing confidently in their leadership roles. As the Bruins continue to develop, the program’s goal is to compete every match and earn a ticket to playoffs.
Below are a few key players for West Brook.
Ashlyn Neireiter
Ashlyn Neireiter
Neireiter is a three-year letterman and starting setter. She can run either a 5-1 or 6-2 offense, and her leadership is a focal point for this program. As previously mentioned, Coach Morgan is pushing her role to take control of the offense and run the court physically and vocally. Neireiter is also a consistent spot server and follows up with aggressive defense. She recently received YMBL All-Tournament and is pressing for district honors by the end of season.
Makayla West
Makayla West
Another seasoned letterman, West is a three-year starting middle with an impact at the net. Carrying herself with experience, she leads the offense in a variety of plays and executes with dominance. West can be dependable in serve receive as a go-to option for passing formations. She was also a YMBL All-Tournament selection last weekend.
Brianna White
Brianna White
White is a two-year varsity starter playing a big role as a six-rotation outside. West has an aggressive line shot, however, she’s been focused on using more range as an attacker. You’ll see her this season swinging with more intention and placement in combination with her usual power. Quick on her feet, she’s dependable in left back with solid tip coverage.
