We will be highlighting a few teams that have a chance to do something very special this year if it all works out. Today we bring our attention to the Colleyville Heritage Panthers out of District 7-5A.
The Lady Panthers are currently 25-7 overall and a perfect 3-0 in district so far on the young season. They are wanting another shot at the state playoffs since their early departure in the 4th round last year. They were picked by a lot of publications to go all the way last season as they dominated their district. This year they have a little more firepower to take them all of the way. We have written about some of these players before and here is a little from our recent articles about them if you need to remember who they are:
Ella Busey Ella Busey 6'0" | OH Colleyville Heritage | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-1 Outside (HS: Colleyville Heritage/Club: Madfrog ‘ last=”]/Verbal: University of Houston)
Ella is currently listed as the 47th best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Miss Busey plays at Colleyville Heritage HS and also club for Madfrog ‘ last=”]. We have covered her for the past couple of years and she has been super consistent on the court in every facet of the game. She is a phenomenal six rotation pin who is currently committed to play at the University of Houston next season. The future Cougar is pivotal for Colleyville Heritage as she has been a dominant player for them for her entire career. She has over 1200 kills in her three year stint as a varsity starter and is not stopping anytime soon. She is having a great senior season and her experience for this team will be huge as they continue district play.
Suli Davis Suli Davis 6'1" | OH Colleyville Heritage | 2025 State #9 Nation TX [2025] 6-1 Outside (HS: Colleyville Heritage/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Suli is currently ranked as the best overall prospect and the best outside in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Colleyville Heritage High School and for the super hot Drive Nation Volleyball program out of the North Texas Region. We have covered her this past year during the club season where she made a huge name for herself playing up an age group and still dominating. Fast-forward to the school season and nothing has changed. She is still dominating all over the court and has her high school squad listed as one of the premier programs in the state. As a sophomore, she is leading the team in kills and is not even close to losing that badge. She has more than double the kills as the next player. This team will go as far as her golden right arm will take them. She is unstoppable so far and has a very bright future ahead of her. Stay tuned for more fireworks.
Morgan Howard [2023] 5-10 Setter (HS: Colleyville Heritage/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: University of Louisiana at Monroe)
Morgan is currently an unranked prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but I have her on my watch list and she should have no problem making the list when I update it. Miss Howard runs the offense for Colleyville Heritage High School and also plays club for the Dallas Skyline volleyball program. She is currently committed to playing volleyball at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and will be a game changer for their program. She is dynamic as she runs down serve receive passes and keeps her squad in system with amazing precision. She knows who to get the ball to in each situation and it has paid off big time in the win column. With a senior leader like Morgan at the helm, this squad can really do some damage come playoff time.
Other notable players for this awesome team are junior libero Ava Ash who is a ball control expert in both serve receive and defense. She leads the team in digs for a reason. Senior middle Reagan Engler Reagan Engler 6'1" | MB Coppell | 2023 State TX has been a monster for this team at the net. She is a major reason why their defense is so stout as she has been a blocking machine. Senior middle Laura See has also been a solid blocker. Junior middle Maddie Bird has been awesome at the service line as she has been acing the competition all year long. This team is poised for a solid run at the UIL State Playoffs and we expect them to be a tough out for any team they run up against.
