With district ramping up this week for a lot of teams, it is do-or-die time for our 2023s who are about to play their last district season of high school ball. There is plenty of talent still up for grabs in Texas, and below we will analyze a few key players from around the state that are still available.
Ariana Goode Ariana Goode 6'0" | MB Klein Collins | 2023 TX – Klein Collins
One of the most notable middles still availble in the class of ’23 is Klein Collins’ Ariana Goode Ariana Goode 6'0" | MB Klein Collins | 2023 TX . She already has 138 kills on the season in one month. Not only is she offensively very effective, but defensively she is a blocking machine. She seems to find a way to get blocks and touches on hitters that are much taller than her. We can attribute that to her overall athleticism. You can view her most recent highlight
Lila Houston – Stony Point
Stony Point is home to Lila Houston, one of the most diverse defensive specialists in the region. Not only does she play 6 rotations standing at 5’5, but she is aggressive at the net and takes big swings. She is also serve receiving a lot with almost 400 receptions so far this season. Someone will be lucky to snag Lila as a diverse player in their program. Check out her most recent highlight here.
Isabella Ceja Isabella Ceja 5'7" | DS/L Incarnate Word | 2023 State TX – Incarnate Word
What I like about libero Isabella Ceja Isabella Ceja 5'7" | DS/L Incarnate Word | 2023 State TX , is her ability to keep her feet in defense and really work her angles. She plays a fantastic left-back and works to read every ball. She plays libero for Incarnate Word out of San Antonio where she has accumulated almost 400 digs in 59 sets. She would be a great pick-up for any program that could use a good dose of ball control. See her most recent highlight here.
Brooke Morris – Lamar Consolidated
Brooke Morris is the master behind Lamar Consolidated’s offense so far this season. What I appreciate about Brooke is that she is always working to get her hitters a good ball. Her placement is great and tempo is almost always there, but you can always count on Brooke to set a great hittable ball. She also has a pretty aggressive serve that has landed her many aces. She will finish her club career at Houston Stellar, where she is sure to make an immediate impact. Check out her highlight video here.
Madison Disu – Hays
Madison Disu has been solid for Hays for a long time. She leads her team in kills per set and has done a pretty decent job passing, posting over 220 receptions so far this season. She has grown into a really powerful pin hitter who should be respected for that. Her size and strength make her a force at the net. She played in the off-season for a great Roots squad. Look for her to have a shining senior year. Check out her season highlights here.
Amaya Rodriguez – Cedar Ridge
Amaya Rodriguez is a spunky outside hitter for Cedar Ridge. Standing at 5’6, she relies on her verticle and her technique to help her score against a bigger block. Amaya does not shy away from the block and continues to find ways to put the ball on the floor. She is a great all-around asset to her team. Check out her most recent highlight
Falon Buford – Splendora
One of the better setters in the state, Falon Buford is still up for grabs. She was the Setter of the Year for 4A-6A as a freshman, and since then has totaled 1780 assists, even after missing one season due to injury. She is primed to break the 2,000 career assist mark later this season. Standing at 6’0, she is a great block and will use her abilities as a lefty to attack any tight balls. Morgen Durgens Morgen Durgens 5'9" | S Clear Springs | 2024 State TX – Clear Springs
Morgen Durgens Morgen Durgens 5'9" | S Clear Springs | 2024 State TX is the setter for Clear Springs High School. Over her career, she has accumulated over 1,600 assists and looks to surpass her assists from last season. She has been key in Clear Springs’s 24 wins so far this season. Not only does she run the offense effectively, she is a great defender and has racked up over 600 career digs. Check out Morgen’s highlight real here.
