9/6 Edmond North @ Norman North
We will kick this off with a top 10 class 6A match up. Battle of the Norths! Both teams have lost some sets this year where they normally wouldn’t in years past, but they have both started to heat up as of late. Both have won their last four matches and only dropped 5 sets combined during this stretch. Both teams have hosting a region in mind and a win here will likely help make a case to move up and snag one of those eight spots. There are so many Prepdig ranked players in this matchup. Let’s start with the senior leadership from Norman North: West Virginia Commit-Katie Kolar, UCO Commit-Riley Roberts, Abigail Gray, and Kassidy Dominic. They are all play makers who love big moments. Edmond North has a solid junior class that includes Emma Gatewood, Abigail Haley, and Kira Lake. Norman North also has a few juniors that can play, like Parker Gladhill and Sage Donahoo. With plenty of play makers on both sides, I think I will give the edge to Norman North with the amount of seasoned upperclassmen they have on the floor at any given time.
9/8 Sapulpa @ Glenpool
A rematch of a class 5A top 10 matchup. There is a combined 30 wins between these two teams already this season. They met the first weekend at the Coweta Tournament, where Sapulpa pushed them to a 3rd set but Glenpool prevailed. Coach Hammer has resurrected this program and immediately turned them into a top five team. He has help from senior outside hitter, Macey Mabray, and the talented freshman duo, Tyra McKinnie and Saniya Craven. Sapulpa however was missing Jr. Tyla Heard, sister of the OSU basketball commit, Stailey Heard. She is back and looking to quickly make an impact this week. If Sapulpa can beat #10 Collinsville on Tuesday and then upset #5 Glenpool Thursday, they could almost solidify their spot in the top 8.
9/8 Holland Hall @ Regent Prep
Class 3A #1 vs Class 4A #1. What else could you ask for from a small school showdown? Coach Christie always gets the most our of his players. Ella Drake has obviously been the main show for Regent but her teammates have really stepped up and helped shoulder the weight. They have already met twice this season, both times at the Regent Tournament and Regent got the best of them both times. As the saying goes, 3rd times the charm. Can OH Macey Collier and setter Kate Hook connect enough to get the job done?
Week 4 is officially in the books. Plenty of great matches have already been played and more will be played in week 5. We are essentially half way and this season is about on the downhill. We can’t wait for playoffs and wish everyone the best en route.
