Owasso Tournament
This tournament has continued to grow, just like the competition level at Owasso has. There is some top notch talent looking forward to some rematches from earlier in the season.
- Broken Arrow (6A #2)
- Owasso (6A #6)
- Edmond Memorial (6A #4)
- Springdale Har-Ber (AR 6A #7)
- Booker T. Washington (6A #16)
- Sand Springs (6A #15)
- Ponca City (6A)
- Southmoore (6A)
Broken Arrow has moved up to #2 in this weeks rankings. Lauren Harms impacts the game in so many ways. She serves, she digs, she blocks, and gets plenty of kills. She is also really mature in her play and mentality for being a newcomer and an underclassmen. Allison Buenzoew, who recently committed to play for John Brown next season, really makes some smart plays, most of which tend to be at a very big moment. Look for them to try and get to the title match and bring home hardware.
Owasso dropped down to #6 in the rankings after a tough weekend in the Bishop Kelley tournament, going 1-4 on the weekend. They will have the home court advantage and will look to bounce back. Look for big plays from the high flying Carley Butler Carley Butler 6'1" | MB Owasso | 2024 State OK , who is apart of the elite 10′ club, to spark some much needed energy for her team.
Edmond Memorial has been a top 5 team all season long. They went 2-1 on day one of the Heather Harkness tournament and due to a 3 way tie, ended up going to silver and dominated on the second day. Young gun Annie Hopkins seems to get better each week. She could be something special and someone that will help keep this team top 5 all year.
Springdale Har-Ber usually is a stacked team that has huge playmakers on the court at all times. They are currently ranked #7 in class 6A in Arkansas. Look for the baby blue jerseys and the dents they leave in the floor after each match.
Booker T. Washington has one of the best freshman in the state, Arriana Brown. She is just a playmaker in its truest form. After a 33 kill night against Bixby, she followed it up with a mere 28 against Victory Christian. She is a great compliment to their talented middle, Kendall Johnson Kendall Johnson DS/L OK . They will look to snag an upset or two and make it tot he gold bracket.
Sand Springs has a good mix of young talent and seasoned vets in the starting rotation. Freshman outside, Alia DeBerry will be a staple here for years to come. She is being guided by senior outside, Payton Robbins. They both can put some pop behind the ball and not afraid to take a swing from anywhere on the court.
Ponca City played extremely well at the Sandite Invitational early in the season. They were able to upset Yukon and Enid while hanging tough with Choctaw and Sand Springs. Look for them to creep up and grab another upset this time around.
Southmoore got the best of Ponca City in that tournament, just beat a ranked Choctaw squad and took a set off a top 5 Deer Creek team. They seem to be starting to get things clicking as they come down the home stretch. This just might be the thing they are looking for to kickstart a run at the end of the season.
This season is awesome so far! Let’s keep the matches rolling.
