We are trying to grow our coverage of the state's southern portion. Admittedly we don't have any scouts living in Kansas besides in the Kansas City area. We are thankful for the individuals and schools who post and tag us on social media. This is our first attempt at compelling Power Rankings. Things we take into consideration: SOS, W-L, size of schools, and matches played in a week (a team that played 8-10 matches and lost once or twice isn't looked at as a negative). Here we go!

1. Andale (14-0)

Andale will open as our top team in the initial power rankings. Not only are they perfect but they handed #3 Hutch their only defeat, #10 Northwest one of their losses, and just outside the ranking Kapaun an L. [player_tooltip player_id='120012' first='McKenzie' last='Fairchild'] is doing [player_tooltip player_id='120012' first='McKenzie' last='Fairchild'] things averaging just under 5 kills per set.

2. Andover Central (14-1)

Central is off and roaring to a 14-1 start to the year. That one loss came to number #9 Newton in a three-set thriller. In their other matchup, Central walked away with the win. Allie Paulson is leading the way in the block category.

3. Hutchinson (8-1)

We expected Hutchinson to be good and they have been with their only loss to #1 Andale. Mya Thompson and [player_tooltip player_id='122207' first='Maliyah' last='Johnson'] are a quality one-two punch on the pins.

4. Eisenhower - Goddard (7-1)

Eisenhower would be perfect if it wasn't for those meddling kids up in #6 Cheney. Nonetheless, they are 7-1 and are getting good play from Addison Verbeck defensively.

5. Maize South (6-2)

Maize South has a win over #9 Newton and their only losses came to KC Metro #9 ranked Olathe West this season. [player_tooltip player_id='153936' first='Jillian' last='Gregory'] and [player_tooltip player_id='119709' first='Gracie' last='Morrow'] were given a boost with the transfer of Tennesse bound and club setter [player_tooltip player_id='150065' first='Camdyn' last='Stucky'] this season.

6. Cheney (9-2)

We like the smaller schools and don't discount their size when they handle business. A Signature win over Eisenhower caught our attention. Campbell Hague is getting kills at just under 4 a set.

7. Collegiate (8-2)

Still early and even though we don't like all the Collegiate losses, we appreciate their wins and bouncebacks. Avery Elofsson is leading the team in many categories.

8. Bishop Carrol (5-1)

The only loss has come to a good Emporia team in three sets.

9. Netwon (5-3)

Don't let the 3 in the loss column fool you. Two of them came against #2 Andover Central and $5 Maize South. They also gave Central their only defeat and took down Emporia.

10. Kapaum Mt. Carmel (6-3)

We will ignore the loss to East for now but the other two came by way of Andale and Emporia. [player_tooltip player_id='220103' first='Haylie' last='Sanders'] and [player_tooltip player_id='495668' first='Lizzie' last='Romer'] both are averaging over 3 kills per set for the Crusaders.
