We’ll start with a tough opening round matchup between the Tigers of Lawrenceburg and the Pirates of Greensburg.
Lawrenceburg (23-5)
What an amazing season for these Tigers. With a mixture of youth and experience (six seniors), Lawrenceburg had one of their better seasons in recent memory. Sophomore Trinity Taylor (’25, 5-8 OH) can put balls away from anywhere, and should test any defenders that the Pirates throw at her. First contacts will be key in sticking around against Greensburg, so look no further than senior Nicole Houze (’23, 5-5 DS/L), who is an anchor on defense and serve receive. They’ve already played the Pirates twice this season, so the familiarity is there.
Greensburg (30-0)
Spending a few weeks in the 3A top five says a lot about (1) the strength of 3A this year, and (2) the level of talent you need to go undefeated. The two-headed attacking monster the Pirates have thrown at every opponent is made of Ella Chapman Ella Chapman 6'3" | MB Greensburg | 2023 State IN (’23, 6-4 MB, Florida Gulf Coast commit) and Josie Nobbe Josie Nobbe 6'0" | OH Greensburg | 2023 State IN (’23, 6-1 OH). Ella has grown athletically so much over the last two years, and has the ability to physically take over a match. Her 4k/.300+ attack line is equalled by Josie, who as of this writing has 1000+ kills and 1000+ digs in her career and is uncommitted.
