Anything can happen in the playoffs that’s for sure. 5A Regions 1 and 2 are filled with teams that are trying to make the final push even if they didn’t finish first in their district. Below we will highlight those teams.
Region 1
Aledo
Aledo is looking better and better going into the playoffs. In their last 11 games, they only have one loss. They have sophomore stud Lauryn Mack Lauryn Mack 5'11" | OH Aledo | 2025 State #111 Nation TX as well as senior outside hitter Alyssa Gonzales. Either of these two ladies can put a ball away. Aledo could easily be a bracket-busting team if their two outside hitters get on a hot streak. They also have AVCA Phenom players Maddie Frank in the middle and pin hitter Vivian Parker Vivian Parker 6'0" | OH Aledo | 2024 State #52 Nation TX .
Mansfield Timberview
Mansfield Timberview has been an interesting team to watch this season. They have some quality wins and won and lost 5 set matches as well. They are a toss-up team that could be dangerous in the postseason because you don’t know what to expect. What we do know is they are a VERY good blocking team, with a solid, tall front line. They also have Louisville commit Reese Robins Reese Robins 6'5" | MB Timberview | 2023 State #15 Nation TX who is playing 6 rotations from the middle position. Nia G Johnson is also a rotation player from the outside who is very explosive as well.
Region 2
Weiss
Weiss could easily be a bracket-busting team with its versatility of hitters. Two in particular Caylee Mejia and Sara Randall. Both athletes can hit from the pin or middle position, and in the playoffs versatility is key. They also have a solid back row with freshman libero Ashley Go who has been so solid this year for Weiss. They are well rounded out with 6 rotation setter Takyla Brown Takyla Brown 5'9" | S Weiss | 2025 State #150 Nation TX , who is a dynamic setter with a high verticle and volleyball IQ.
Reedy
Reedy has been playing very confidently lately and finished their regular season very strongly. This is good going into the post-season on a hot streak. They took Wakeland to 5 sets in a tough loss but bounced back to win the rest of the season. They have a very strong serve-receive pattern, where lots of players pass. They are lead by senior outside hitter Halle Schroder Halle Schroder 6'1" | OH Reedy | 2023 State TX and followed up by Caitlyn Gantzer. They are also balanced in the setting position with Gracie Cagle leading in assists.
