Helias Catholic (29-6-3) vs. Webb City (31-4-2)

Helias joins us after a five-set old-school clash over top-seeded Jefferson City in the district championship match. They are definitely battle-tested this season playing a competitive schedule. They own a victory in tournament action over another quarterfinal participant St. Michael. Against Jefferson City, [player_tooltip player_id='119221' first='Chapel' last='Dobbs'] put the team on her back with 23 kills. Fellow seniors Josie Morasch and Landry VanOverschelde added 24 combined. The key in this match could be the play of [player_tooltip player_id='150019' first='Ava' last='Millard'], [player_tooltip player_id='124227' first='Izzy' last='Herrbold'], and VanOverschlde in the back row. The trio is good defensively and keeping the ball in play and in system will be key for the team's offense.

Webb City will be the host and has lost only once at home all season. They are winners of 7 straight and didn't drop a set in their district run. Brenda Lawrence and [player_tooltip player_id='227349' first='Aubree' last='Lassiter'] had ten kills each in the final. Kyah Sanborn has over 900 assists on the season and has been very smart and strategic in her ball placement and set decisions. She always knows where the defense is set up and plans accordingly. [player_tooltip player_id='172447' first='Sophia' last='Crane'] has been lethal behind the ten-foot line getting up everything that comes her way.

Prediction: This is a tough match-up here to pick. Both teams have offensive weaponry. We think the team that shows up defensively holds the advantage and we like Helias to get it done.

St. Michael the Archangel (27-5-1) vs. Platte County (25-9)

This writer will be in attendance for this one and it should be a good one. St. Michael has been impressive this season and had to win a 5-set match in the semi-finals, then a four-set fight in the finals to head up I-29 in Kansas City. The trio of [player_tooltip player_id='152151' first='Remy' last='Covinsky'], Lily Vanbebber, and Mikilah Davis were lights out in the district final combining for 41 kills. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='232325' first='Addi' last='MacLean'] can throw the freshman title out the window at this point in the season. She was lights out in their district-run dishing out 125 assists in the three matches.

Platte County has been here before in Class 4. They have a series of going up and down a class but the last time they were in Class 4 they made the next leap and got to the final 4. They have the pieces to do it again led by setter Emma Harned. She will look to get her middles involved early to set up pins [player_tooltip player_id='216466' first='Kendall' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='219756' first='Karlee' last='Riggs']. The two teamed up for 21 kills in the final over Kearney. The Pirates have always been a scrappy team defensively and fly all over the court.

Prediction: This is another pick-em. We went with the visiting team in the other match and will do it again here with St. Michael making the final match in the Platte County gym a devastating one.
