A rematch with Parkway West on 10/11 will be a massive game for the Wildcats. Parkway West handed the Wildcats a split and a loss in the Borgia Tournament, and both are in the same district. Emma Fairchild Emma Fairchild 5'10" | OH Westminster Christian | 2023 State MO has 192 kills, and Avery Stanfill Avery Stanfill 5'8" | DS/L Westminster Christian | 2023 State MO has 213 digs.
2. Helias Crusaders 11-3-2
Helias still has two tournaments and matches with Blair Oaks, California, Hermann, Jefferson City, and Borgia left to play. At this point, they are second in the rankings behind Westminster, who beat Helias in the first weekend of the season, and Helias knocked off Class 5 Rock Bridge in 4. Chapel Dobbs Chapel Dobbs 6'1" | OH Helias | 2023 State MO reached 1000+ career kills this season.
3. Farmington Black Knights 16-4-1
Jackson Tournament and the MAAA conference tourney over the next two weeks should help solidy them as a top 10 team. With a win and a loss over St. Pius X and a win over Windsor, the Black Knights get the nod at third. The team has a two-headed monster in Jelena Gray Jelena Gray 5'9" | OH Farmington | 2023 State MO and Jade Roth Jade Roth 6'0" | MB Farmington | 2023 State MO , both with 200+ kills on the season. Remember that Farmington, St. Pius X, and Windsor are all in the same district this year.
4. St. Pius X (Festus) Lancers 17-2
Talk about a stacked district the Lancers have, as they will have to go through Windsor and Farmington to win it. The Lancers are youthful and talented and still have to battle with Jefferson to see who reigns supreme in Jefferson County. 541 out of 640 kills are from underclassmen, and Hannah Burch is the old timer on the team and has 99 kills on the season.
5. Windsor Owls 20-1
District 1 is stacked, and Windsor is on cruise control. I don’t see them taking another loss in the regular season. Lexi Menne Lexi Menne 5'4" | OH Windsor | 2023 State MO led the Owls to the Final Four her first year and wants nothing more to do the same in her last year.
6. Webb City Cardinals 20-3-1
The Cardinals seem to be the best team out of the Springfield area this year. With Brenda Lawrence, Aubree Lassiter Aubree Lassiter 5'11" | RS Webb City | 2024 State MO , and Kate Brownfield bombing away, keep an eye on the Cardinals coming playoffs. They might just be making a trip to Cape.
7. Platte County Pirates 19-6
After an opening season loss to Kearney, the Pirates have righted the ship. With matches at St. Pius X (KC) and Belton, I see only teams that could give Platte County trouble. Kendall Johnson Kendall Johnson 5'10" | MB Platte County | 2024 State MO has 182 kills, Karlee Riggs Karlee Riggs 5'11" | RS Platte County | 2025 State MO has 158, and Karsyn Stehlik with 153 gives the Pirates a trio of hitters for opponents to stop.
8. Belton Pirates 20-4
How will the young Pirates handle the pressure of districts? The Pirates are in a tough district with St. Michael and Warrensburg but have beaten both teams. Avery Caskey is the kill leader with 269, followed by two freshmen middles in Phoenix Fogel with 135 kills and Bella Scherfenberg with 284 kills.
9. St. Michael the Archangel Guardians 17-3
The Guardians are primed for a run to the final four but still have a match at Pembroke Hill left on the schedule. Led by a veteran coach and Remy Covinsky Remy Covinsky 5'9" | OH Lee's Summit West | 2023 State MO on the outside, a battle with Belton looms in the district tournament. Belton knocked off the Guardians once, 25-23, 17-25, 19-25.
10. Pembroke Hill Raiders 13-3
The Raiders have a lot of volleyball left to play and are in the same district as Platte County, which has already handed the Raiders a defeat. St. Michael will be a battle to keep an eye on at the end of the regular season. Gretel Robbins Gretel Robbins 5'11" | RS Pembroke Hill | 2024 State MO leads the attack with 106 kills, Kendall Giles roams the back row, and the silky-smooth quarterback of the team, Sydney Draper Sydney Draper 5'11" | S Pembroke Hill | 2023 State #143 Nation MO , has 346 assists and 85 kills.
