Continue ReadingThe high school season is ramping up district play and there are some players that are scoring at will all over the court. These young ladies cannot be stopped. They are scoring in bunches for their varsity squads and no one has been able to slow them down. This series of articles will be highlighting players in every grade level who are filling up the stat books. This next article series will cover the junior class and give props to the attackers who are leading the entire state in kills. Please help us recognize the following players.
Madison Triplett Madison Triplett 5'9" | OH El Capitan | 2024 State #149 Nation CA [2024] 5-9 Outside (HS: El Capitan/Club: Coast/ Verbal: UC at Santa Barbara)
Madison is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but has been on our watch list for a while now. She should have no problem being ranked once I update them in a few weeks. She plays for El Capitan High School and also for the amazing Coast program. Miss Triplett has already tallied 451 kills on a wonderful .287 hitting percentage. She has eclipsed every statistical category from last year to this year letting everyone know just how polished she is becoming. We as coaches talk a lot about creating momentum with our approach in order to help gain more power on our attacks and more height in our vertical. This can be seen in every attempt that Madison tries. She masters the art of timing her last two steps in order to speed up and create momentum. Although slightly smaller than most pins, she has great hang time and hits the ball at the peak of her jump to stay potent on offense.
MacKenzie Parsons MacKenzie Parsons 6'2" | MB Poway | 2024 State #189 Nation CA [2024] 6-2 Middle (HS: Poway/Club: Coast/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mackenzie is currently ranked as the 20th best overall prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Poway High School and also club for the nationally ranked Coast volleyball program. She has tallied 407 kills on a phenomenal .532 hitting percentage. While most of the kill leaders are pin attackers, Miss Parsons is able to do most of her damage out of the middle position. However, she is doing it more efficiently and better than all middles in the state of California for her grad class. She runs a fantastic slide out of the middle that is almost unstoppable. She mixes great footwork on every route with strong power from her upper body to destroy the ball. There haven’t been many blockers or back row defenders able to stop her consistently. Her setter knows just how dangerous she is and that is why they feed her early and often. The two-sport star will continue her dominant ways and we will be watching very closely.
Jordan Vander Veen Jordan Vander Veen 5'9" | OH Ripon Christian | 2024 CA [2024] 5-9 Outside (HS: Ripon Christian/Club: Rage Volleyball Club/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jordan is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She stars on the outside for Ripon Christian High School and also for the Rage Volleyball Club program. She has already tallied 403 kills on a great .319 hitting percentage. Her amazing offense has led to her squad being undefeated in their conference with a 14-0 record. Jordan is a solid two-way six-rotation outside who excels on defense also. But as an attacker she is able to hit effectively from both the front row and back row. Her transition footwork off of the net is super quick and it allows her to use excellent vision to time the ball perfectly. She is also great at speeding up her arm swing when she sees a split in the block to score for her team. I love the fact that she understands the game at a high level like when she get set inside and is able to adjust her footwork to the ball and still turn on it to hit line. Not many players are able to do this often, but Miss Vander Veen can.
