We’ve been highlighting the players that are standing out in individual skills and today we continue to showcase some of the most productive blockers in the Lone Star State. With seniors and juniors already covered, it’s now time we feature some of the sophomores who have been patrolling the net.

Tuiasosopo is the only player in the class to have more than 200 blocks (she’s currently at 201) in the entire state this season. Also a basketball player, she has great length and good footwork, two skills that help her get stops at the net. The Copperas Cove prospect averages 1.7 stuffs per set and registered double digits in blocks twice over the course of the team’s campaign – in the season opener against Brentwood Christian (11) and in a tournament duel with McNeil (10).
Langham Creek’s towering middle had excellent blocking numbers in her freshman campaign but significantly improved them this season. Considering the same 118 sets, Taylor saw both her block points (110 to 176) and her blocks per set average (0.9 to 1.5) take significant leaps this season. Much of her progress came from her better understanding of the game and improving her mobility at the net. Taylor produced 11 block points against Cy-Fair last month and ten more against Cypress Park last week.
A very physical middle, Brown does a great job of making her presence felt at the net. She’s long, can jump well and has excellent footwork, which helps her quickly move from pin to pin. Her block count is currently at 140, with an average of 1.1 per set. Brown’s most productive blocking performance came in a three-set match against Davenport in which she tallied 11 stuffs.
