Let’s take a look at some players who have flown under the radar but did a great job at the state tournament. Volleyball is clearly moving forward and in a big way!
Kate Hook– Setter for Holland Hall. Kate is the setter in a 5-1 offense, meaning she stays in the whole time and sets from both front and back row. This is for special athletes only. They need to be able to set the ball but also now block and possibly attack in the front row, while still serving and digging when she goes to the back row. She did a great job all around. Great as an offensive option when in system and even a back row hitter when out of system. She was a huge reason her team won the 3A state tournament.
Ella Hale– Outside hitter for Mount St. Mary. She is only a FRESHMAN. Get to know her name people, she can go! She had a huge game in the state championship against Bishop McGuinness. She has the ability to go line and cross, go up tempo or hit out of system, and she can swing with power or tip with control. She will only get better as the years go on. MSM may have the next huge run of state titles, as Victory Christian did the past 5 seasons. As of yesterday, they now have won two in a row.
Saniya Craven– Right side hitter for Glenpool. She is also part of this freakishly good FRESHMAN class. She hits right side and has some bounce that not many girls have, especially those at her age. She is able to really disrupt opposing hitters when she gets up and presses over into their face. She also can adjust really well to balls that aren’t quite set all the way to the pin and still get a good attack from it. She will likely get moved to the outside next season so the Warriors can get her more touches.
Charlotte Nelson– Right side hitter for Bishop McGuinness. I could do a whole article on just this freshman group! She had some key kills all throughout the tournament. She can put some power behind her swing. She does a great job of hitting that cross court shot. She already has a solid frame and will grow into it, becoming even more dynamic as the years go.
Alexis Williams Alexis Williams 6'0" | MB MacArthur | 2024 OK – Middle blocker for Lawton Mac. Another athlete that has springs in her shoes. She is something to watch during hitting warm ups. She will regularly bounce balls close to the 10ft line. Most has to do with her vertical and her high touch point when she contacts the ball. She was a big reason Mac was able to avenge last years 1st round exit and get past Glenpool in a tough four set match.
