There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Middles we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Darla Crow [2023] 5-11 Middle (HS: Ryan/Club: Frisco Flyers/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Darla is an unranked prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Denton Ryan High School and also club for Frisco Flyers. She has been dominant this season out of the middle. Darla has tallied 186 total bocks and 140 of them were solo blocks. Offensively she had 411 kills on a .301 hitting percentage to go along with 21 aces 116 digs on the year. I love how she rises up off of the ground so effortlessly. Her hang time has wreaked havoc on opposing blockers as it makes it very difficult for them to stop her. Her strength while hitting quicks is the fact that she can turn in mid air and demolish the ball to both corners to the weak side of the defense. She uses great court vision to do this. We are proud to have her listed as a nominee. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
Arissa Smith Arissa Smith 6'1" | MB Ridge Point | 2023 State #105 Nation TX [2023] 6-2 Middle (HS: Ridge Point/Club: Houston Juniors /Verbal: Mississippi State)
Arissa is currently the 7th ranked prospect in the 2023 class according to the Prep Dig Texas State Rankings list. She plays for Ridge Point High School and also for the famed Houston Juniors program. We have covered her numerous times throughout the last couple of years and she has been stellar out of the middle for Ridge Point. Her legacy will live on as one of the premier players to come out of the school. This season she has tallied 188 kills on a fabulous .366 hitting percentage. She has also tallied 24 aces. 174 total blocks to which 40 of them were solo blocks. Arissa also added 75 digs to help her squad to a 39-8 overall record and a perfect 16-0 district record. Please help us congratulate her on earning a nomination for an All-State Award.
Avery Wilks Avery Wilks 6'0" | MB Barbers Hill | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-0 Middle (HS: Barbers Hill/Club: Houston Stellar/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
