Continue ReadingThe 2022 High School season has been amazing so far! Along with our readers, we have been on pins and needles watching teams battle all season long. There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences/classes together and pick the best of the best. The Outsides we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Sydney Bryant Sydney Bryant 6'3" | OH George Ranch | 2025 State #26 Nation TX [2025] 6-3 Outside (HS: George Ranch/Club: Houston Juniors / Verbal: Uncommitted)
Sydney is currently listed as the 4th best overall player in the Prep Dig Texas State Rankings for the class of 2025. She plays at George Ranch High School and for the famous Houston Juniors club program out of the Lone Star Region. This year she has really stepped it up and solidified herself as an elite attacker. She has already tallied 562 kills on a very efficient .291 hitting percentage. She has also managed to amass 41 blocks, 227 digs, and 18 assists on the year. Every college across the country knows who this young lady is and she is making a name for herself every time she takes the court. She can play any position along the front row and will be a dynamic collegiate athlete in a few years. We are proud to announce that she has earned a nomination for an All-State Award. Please help us congratulate her on the honor.
Macaria Spears Macaria Spears 6'3" | OH Prestonwood Christian | 2025 State #5 Nation TX [2025] 6-3 Outside (HS: Prestonwood Christian/Club: Texas Advantage Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Macaria is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because she just transferred and I have not updated the list with her. She will not only be on it but will challenge for one of the top spots. She stars on the pins for Prestonwood and will play for the awesome Texas Advantage Volleyball program again as she did when she was younger. I wrote an article on her twice now that I have seen her in person and here is a refresher of what I stated, “The word dynamic doesn’t even begin to describe her game well enough. She is already on the roster for our USA U19 program and has a great chance to make an Olympic roster in the future. We profiled her last month when I watched her team compete at Volleypalooza.” She has tallied 544 kills on an astonishing .477 hitting percentage. Normally middles have a percentage that high, but she is doing it from the pins which is super impressive to be that dominant. She also had 225 digs, 65 blocks, and 50 aces from the service line. Please help us congratulate her on earning a nomination for an All-State Award.
Britton Finley Britton Finley 6'2" | OH Frisco Memorial | 2025 State #109 Nation TX [2025] 6-2 Outside (HS: Frisco Memorial/Club: Madfrog /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Britton is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that will change once I update them. She has been on my watch list for a while and she just keeps proving that she belongs with amazing production on the court. She plays at Frisco Memorial High School and will play club for Madfrog this year. Her sophomore season couldn’t have gone any better as she tallied 538 kills on a very efficient .247 hitting percentage. She also had 38 blocks, 292 digs and 38 aces. This dual sport stud also stars on the basketball hardwood for Memorial. What I love about her play is how much natural power she has on her attack. I almost feel sorry for the ball after it makes contact with her anvils. She is also a stud who can play middle if need be and understands timing and spacing with inside routes. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future on the court. I can’t wait to update the rankings and show the nation where she stacks up. We are proud to announce that she has earned a nomination for an All-State Award.
There are many more amazing players that will be nominated. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes to see who ends up with a chance at one of the prestigious awards.
