Rise volleyball club is based out of Oklahoma City. They are one of the top clubs on the west side of the state and have plenty of players who play at the next level. The 16-1 team will be coached by Victoria Mendez. She currently plays for Southern Nazarene University as a setter and is from Texas originally. Rise 15-1 last season finished top 10 at the regional tournament and ranked 11th overall in the state. They will be looking to climb even higher this season.
Here is the roster and some possible positions they may play this season.
Sydney Barnes- Outside/Right Side Hitter from Edmond Memorial High School. A quality player from a quality high school program. Look for her to control her shots and make plays when its needed.
Chesnie Caudill Chesnie Caudill 5'8" | OH Piedmont | 2025 State OK – Outside/ Right Side Hitter from Piedmont High School. Starting varsity outside for the 5A state qualifiers. She was a headache for opposing coaches all last school and club season. She will be even better this go around!
Vanessa Fisher- Middle Blocker from Edmond Santa Fe High School. A big powerful player who draws plenty of attention on offense and deservedly so, with the monster kills she puts down.
Landry Key- Outside/Right Side Hitter that is homeschooled. There are very talented players in the state that don’t play for a high school. This is one of them. She is following in the foot steps of players like Kady Hansen Kady Hansen 6'3" | MB OKC Storm | 2023 State OK and Kate Ringer from OKC Storm.
Bella Martin- Defensive Specialist/Libero from Edmond Santa Fe High School. She did a great job playing some middle back defense for Santa Fe. She makes plays then hustles to the net to cover her hitters. This is a sign of a player who been coached well and vales the little things.
Addison Grutzmacher- Right Side Hitter from Mustang High School. She will be a big help on defense. She has good timing on her blocks and is a smart attacker. She will be a key player in the front row for this team.
Kayla Klinesmith- Defensive Specialist/Outside Hitter from Deer Creek High School. Deer Creek has trained top tier passers lately. She may the next big time DS for the Antlers.
Saylor Paden- Setter From Weatherford High School. Coming from way out west, she will be looking to prove herself amongst the city school players and I think she will raise some eyebrows early on.
Ella Wilson- Setter from Tuttle High School. Ella is coming from a small school from the southwest side of OKC. Tuttle is a relatively new program and she is helping them climb the charts in class 4A.
Megan Shwarz- Middle Blocker/Right Side Hitter from Yukon High School. She has a really solid tip to the left. She doesn’t make many mistakes and puts the other team in OS situations often.
Here is a quick quote from Coach Mendez, “Overall, I am super excited about all the talent on this roster. We are predicting to play at a really high level and surprise some people.”
A few tournaments you can catch them at are: Redlands Rendezvous, Show Me National Qualifier and Battle at the Fort.
Speak of tournaments, Prep Dig will be hosting out own in Tulsa on March 11th and 12th. It is located on AES and we will have scouts there to give live updates, take pictures and write articles!
