These athletes definitely brought their “A” game and made sure their name would be remembered after they left the gym. I tried to watch all athletes from every court and the ‘24s brought it and you can tell their composure and confidence in the expo experience has grown. Here are a few that impressed me and believe me when I tell you this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Baumann does a really nice job of working the angles as an attacker. If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch Baumann play, I would highly recommend catching her in action this fall. She is a very powerful, 6’1 middle blocker, and knows how take her presence known. Baumann is physical and athletic making her a well-rounded player. She does a nice job tracking the ball right from the pass and she plays aggressive and competes on every point. Baumann has a powerful swing, and she is adjusted to a number of different setters very well. She has a sound foundation and will only get better from here.
Apel has a great range that allows her to cover a lot of court and make it look really easy. She is a player that is interesting to watch because the 5’8 Libero uses her height and long reach to her advantage. Apel caught my eye with her ability to make covering the deep corners look so easy. She can communicate and read the play with ease while playing solid defense. Apel isn’t afraid to hit the floor in order to give her setters the best ball possible and when you put that together with her competitive mindset and athleticism she will do big things. She has a strong foundation and is going to be an player to watch this winter.
Wojdyla gets the ball out of her hands really fast and makes going against the flow look easy. She does a great job getting herself on position to make the best set possible. Wojdyla is an player you will want to keep tabs on as she develops because she could definitely be elite. I was really impressed with her determination to get to each and every ball with her hands, which will catch some eyes and set you apart from the rest. Wojdyla stands at 5’10 and she has a good defensive foundation along with her ability to set. She can work efficiently in a fast paced drill and cqn work with other players that are playing at different levels. Wojdyla is quick, perceptive and has a soft touch on the ball. She is definitely one to keep an eye out for.
Lamb can really get the ball out fast and keeps her contact high. She is a magician the way she will bend and contort her body to get the best play on the ball. Lamb is a developing player and standing at 5’7, she is very aware of the court and she is fast and compeitive. She did catch my eye with her ability to go against the flow on multiple occasions. Lamb has an impressive foundation to build off of and is only going to keep growing.
Highlights
Robinson is so smooth in transition that she is almost mesmerizing and then she takes a monster swing and brings you crashing back to reality. Standing just shy of 6’0, Robinson is a strong and reliable athlete that you will want to keep taba on. She has an impressive and powerful swing. Robinson is a strong attacker and consistent with her attacks on the outside.
