Recruiting rules have changed and evolved with the current times and now college coaches have the transfer portal and extra covid years that they have to juggle on top of the already chaotic business of recruiting. I was happy to see some really strong players going after it and demonstrating that there is still a lot of talent available and ready to make an impact at the next level.
Krenn had a knack for winning the joust at the net and I got to see it multiple times. She’s the type who can play high above the net and being highly competitive making her hard to beat. Krenn is also a high academic prospect with a 4.0 GPA.
Dean was a dream to watch with her discipline in getting her hips around the ball every time without fail. She may have been the best setter to enter the gym Sunday. Dean made every set look easy from setting a quick tempo ball to leading the middle behind her for a slide.
Merizon is a smaller lefty but has explosive hops, works hard on both sides of the ball, and is spunky. The intangibles on this player are tough to measure, but she could be a strong pick up at the next level. Merizon is very physical with a whip for an arm.
Highlights
Edmund has improved so much over just the past year! She went from being the tall girl that just blasted the ball to the athlete making a smart shot cross court with a tight set. Edmund is also an attacker who can swing from anywhere in the front row and be lethal.
Grossman is a pin that can really put up a big-time block that would frustrate a lot of terminal attackers. And with an arm swing like hers, she is destined to be a point scorer at the next level. Grossman is well trained, long, physical, and has a high contact point to put a ball away.

Johnson made a really well-timed and well-placed setter dump to end a long rally. I’ve seen her develop over the past couple years and she’s made tremendous gains in regards to her jump setting and release of the ball. Johnson really found a way to look comfortable among the rapid rep drills.
