<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The first two days of the area round of the University Interscholastic League's (UIL) playoffs are now in the books but the second round of the postseason continues on Saturday, when teams from all around the state will compete for the final spots on the regional quarterfinals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The next weeks will be filled with exciting matches in every corner of the Lone Star State and our Prep Dig Texas team will try and cover as many as possible to keep you up-to-date on everything that's going on in the most important moment of the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We'll also try to, as much as possible, daily present some of the most exciting matchups and starting today, will feature one playoff match in each of the four regions of the state of Texas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Region 1: Highland Park vs. Colorado - Lubbock-Cooper HS - 3PM</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Highland Park Comets (33-7) from Amarillo were the top-ranked team in Conference 2A - District 1 with an undefeated campaign of eight victories. Undefeated in their last 14 matches, the Comets swept Post in their bi-district round match. The senior trio of Cassandra McClurg (libero), Melanie Koval and Kyra Courtemanche form the spine of Highland Park's team this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Colorado Wolves (19-11) from Colorado City are undefeated in their last four matches after they topped McCamey in a dramatic five-setter in the bi-district round. They were second in Conference 2A - District 4 with seven wins and two losses. Their playoff campaign started with a 3-0 win against Wascom in the bi-district round. The Cardinals have junior outside hitter Ella Roberts, junior middle Cale Brown and sophomore libero Caitlyn Stewart as some of their key players.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Atlanta Rabbits (24-6) are undefeated in their last 16 matches and topped Conference 3A - District 14 with 12 straight victories. Their most recent triumph happened in the bi-district round, where they overcame Chapell Hill in four sets. Pleasant upset Ore City in a dramatic five-setter in the bi-district round. In the district round, the Bulldogs ranked third in Conference 2A - District 17 with three wins and six losses. Freshman middle Alexia Gonzalez has been a revelation for Harts Bluff this season and is part of the team's core alongside junior setter/right side Kaitley Green and sophomore libero Perla Solorio.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Beckville Bearcats (32-11) have been one of the strongest teams in Conference 2A this season. They won District 19 with a perfect record of ten wins and kept rolling in the opening round of the playoffs with a sweep of Shelbyville. Their bi-district round match was fairly uneventful as the Cavaliers beat Vista Ridge in three sets. The team's junior setter duo of [player_tooltip player_id='202719' first='Kacey' last='Kazmierski'] and [player_tooltip player_id='177544' first='Avery' last='Hamlin'] has been in excellent form all season, as well as senior outside hitter Logan Brannan.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Brandeis Broncos (29-15) from San Antonio ranked third in the competitive Conference 6A - District 28 with 12 wins and four losses. The team started the postseason with a strong four-set win over Cibolo.
