The first teams to make it to the area rounds are now known and some of them counted on remarkable performances from key players to advance.
Here are five players who started the playoffs on fire:
A transfer from Klein, ‘The Texas Hammer’ proved once again her value for Conroe by leading the team to its first playoff victory since 1996, a sweep against Nimitz. The athletic outside hitter had a spectacular offensive performance, tallying a match-high 20 kills, while hitting at .562. Brown, who’s coached by her mother Charvette, also added eight digs to round up a great performance.

Lago Vista certainly had more than one hero in their dramatic five-set victory over China Springs, but it’s hard to look away from the incredible contributions Felix had. The diminutive libero was on fire on the backcourt and had her best defensive performance of the season when it mattered, registering a season-high 37 digs to go with 28 passes and one ace.
Mansfield’s talented setter had a memorable night on Monday, leading the Tigers to a sweep of Coveras Cove in the bi-district round. Resta produced 26 assists in the match and surpassed 1,000 for the season. Mansfield’s setter also added five digs, one ace and one block on her special night.

Splendora caused an upset by knocking higher-seeded Little Cypress-Mauriceville out with a four-set victory and solid play of Owens played a big role in the team’s success. The team’s top scorer in the season, the senior outside hitter came up big on offense again, tallying 16 kills, but also contributed on the backcourt with five digs and three passes.

Much of Calallen’s solid three-set victory over La Feria was built at the service line, as the Wildcats fired an impressive 19 aces during the match. Starting libero Gonzalez accounted for nearly half of those aces, tying for a match-high eight in just 15 attempts. She also took care of her backcourt duties extremely well, leaving the court with ten digs and 14 passes and almost registering a triple-double.
