Bailey Boeve
Bailey Boeve
Boeve created a buzz with her play here this week. She’s advanced beyond her years as an all-court standout. Boeve explodes off the court and swings with power. Her athleticism impresses. She combines it with being skilled and technically sound. She led her team with 22 kills and tied for the lead in digs with 16 during this match. She also recorded seven blocks. She’ll be fun to watch the next three seasons.
Kovarna excels in setting up her teammates for success. She does that as a setter, but her contributions don’t end there. She put up 44 assists in this match, but also contributed 16 digs, six blocks, six kills and two service aces. She’s a student of the game, understanding where to be and making those folks around her better.
Carlene Hicklin
Carlene Hicklin
Like Boeve and Kovarna, Hicklin helps out all over the floor. She chipped in with eight kills, 11 digs, four assists and a service ace. She moves around the court smoothly and finds her spots quickly. She shows good timing when rising up and connecting on the swing. She’s a good athlete.
Knowles is an absolute joy to watch if you love this sport. She’s equally dangerous when swinging or protecting the back row. She’s a superior athlete with a skill set that’s off the charts. She racked up an impressive 28 kills in this match to go with 15 digs, two blocks and a service ace. It will be fun to follow here at the University of Houston beginning next season.

Channing Johnson
Johnson popped out in this match. The freshman displays an unusual maturity for her age, holding down a key position surrounded by seniors and juniors. She sees the court really well and places the ball in good spots for her hitters on a consistent basis. She contributed 42 of her team’s 44 assists in this match. She added three digs.
