Here are some players who stood out during the Mount Vernon-Unity Christian contest:
Meester stands out literally and figuratively. She’s every bit of the 6-foot-2 at which she’s listed in the program and plays bigger than that with her extremely long arms. She’s also very athletic and jumps well, adding to the misery for opponents. In this match, she came through with a match-best 17 kills, hitting .342. She added seven digs, an assist and a service ace.
Miller holds everything together for the Mustangs. Her sets are consistently precise. She sees the court well, allowing her to deliver the ball to the teammate best position to swing. She doled out 30 assists in just three sets in this one, adding 12 digs, five kills, five blocks and a service ace. It would be tough finding something she can’t do on the court.
Brand is like a force field in the back row, turning around big hits and converting those into usable passes. Her lateral movement is sharp and smooth, allowing her to stay steady and in control. She posted a match-high 17 digs on this day. She added two assists and two service aces.
Schoonhoven is a cerebral player who extracts the most out of her ability. She contributes all over the court and makes her teammates better. She led her squad in digs (11) and kills (9) in this match. She added two assists and a service ace on the day. She should be proud of an outstanding prep career.
Paige De Boom

Like Schoonhover, De Boom aids her team all over the floor. She serves as the setter but could play the other positions at a high level if needed. Her athleticism stands out as does her feel for the game. She handed out a team-high 13 assists against Mount Vernon, adding seven digs and a pair of kills. She’ll be missed.
