As we prepare for the tournament, it’s a good opportunity for us to feature some of the most intriguing players from each of the 24 teams that will compete this week in Garland. We’ll highlight the top players to watch (one from each team) in each of the six divisions and with division 1A already covered, it’s time we turn our focus to division 2A.
Players To Watch
Rylee Wolf
Rylee Wolf
A talented volleyball and softball student-athlete, Wolf is Windthorst’s technical reference and that leads her to play multiple roles for the Trojanettes. The six-footer is a force at the net with great length and explosiveness, but is also extremely technically sound, playing great defense and taking up setting duties when she’s on the backcourt.
Abigail Hellman
Abigail Hellman
A long and athletic pin hitter with outstanding offensive potential, Hellman is the player who’s going to get set in the most important moment of matches. She’s very strong with her swings and is the kind of player who doesn’t need a full approach to overcome the block and score points. Hellman has very good arm power and can hit to any different angles from the left.
Kaitlyn Kirschner
Kaitlyn Kirschner
A dynamic and explosive middle, Kirschner is a big factor at the net for the Cougars. Her high-energy play positively affects the entire team and she’s capable of impacting the game on both sides of the ball. Kirschner is an excellent offensive player, who combines power, size and great resources when swinging. Her amazing footwork also makes her available in transition more often than most other middles and Leon strongly benefits from it.
Meredith Magliolo
Meredith Magliolo
Schulenburg have talent on several positions, but the team’s middle is especially strong with Magliolo. The 6’1″ junior has been incredible productive for the Shorthorns, using her size and power to dominate the net. Magliolo is the team’s third-best offensive player with 324 kills registered so far and her blocking output has been even better as she leads Schulenburg in that area of the game with 136 stuffs (1.1 per set).
