Four teams will compete for the state title in each of the six conferences and we’ll be providing daily updates of everything that’s going on, with previews, match results, top performances, and, of course, news on the division champions.
Here’s what to look for on Wednesday:
Division 1A – Semifinals
Christ Academy vs. Prestonwood Christian Academy North – @ Robinson HS – 10 AM
The Christ Academy Lady Warriors of Wichita Falls are the division’s back-to-back state champions and won three of the last state titles. They were the District 1 winners and overcame Texoma Christian, Victory Christian and Granbury Cornerstone in the playoffs. The team is led by senior right side Brooklyn Lane and sophomore outside hitter Bella Rose.
The Prestonwood Christian Academy North Lions from Prosper made it to the State Championship from District 3. The team has knocked the Wichita Christian School and the Victory Baptist Academy out in the postseason. Some of their key players are senior Madigan Matthews, sophomore Charlotte Mitchell and junior Jessa Matthews.
Cornerstone Christian vs. Heritage Christian – @ Robinson HS – 1 PM
The Cornerstone Christian Lions from San Angelo were in District 6 in the regular season, where they beat Heritage School twice. Their senior trio of Rylie Clements (right side), Ariel Vega (libero) and Abbie Harrison (middle) plays an important role in the team’s game plan.
The Heritage Christian Eagles from Fredericksburg also emerged from District 6 to the State Championship, eliminating Juan Diego Academy, The Covenant Preparatory School and Hill Country Christian in the playoffs. The Eagles have a strong trio of juniors in middle Eleanor Loggie, outside hitter Ellie Shipman and setter Lilli Bray.
Division 2A – Semifinals
Ovilla Christian vs. Nazarene Christian Academy – @ Robinson HS – 4 PM
The Ovilla Christian Eagles from Red Oak started their campaign in District 2, which they won with 11 victories and one loss – they beat Nazare Christian Academy twice in three matches this season. In the postseason, the team dominated Alcuin and All Saints Episcopal. Sophomore middle Sophie Henry and outside hitters Zoey Hensley (sophomore) and London Upchurch (junior) form the core of the team.
The Nazarene Christian Academy Lions from Crowley also came from District 2 and had the same 11-1 campaign to rank second. The team secured playoff victories against Abilene Christian and Wylie Prep Academy to make it to the State Championship. Look out for the Wendt sisters Siera (junior setter) and Aspen (sophomore outside hitter), as well as sophomore middle Jenna Valdez.
Bracken Christian vs. Concordia High – @ Robinson HS – 7 PM
The Bracken Christian Warriors from Bulverde were dominant in District 5, winning all of their 12 matches to rank first. They also beat First Baptist Academy in the second round of the playoffs. The team relies a lot on their senior trio of Aubrey Wheelock (outside hitter), Elena McCrum (setter) and Emerson Askland (middle).
The Concordia High Cardinals from Pflugerville also came from District 5, where they were second with 12 wins and two losses. In the playoffs, they overcame Allen Academy, Heritage Christian and Providence Classical. Some of their key players are junior right side Calissa Allison, senior libero Emery Pomroy and senior setter Emma Pritchett.
