As we continue to follow the tournament that’s being held in the Waco area, here’s a summary of what happened in both divisions.
Division 1A: Christ Academy 3-0 Heritage Christian – 25-17, 25-18, 25-21
The Christ Academy Lady Warriors from Wichita Falls dominated the division for another season and topped the Heritage Christian Eagles from Fredericksburg in three sets in the Championship match. The Warriors have now won their third straight title and celebrate their fourth victory in the last five season.
Christ Academy’s seniors Brooklyn Lane (setter), Haley Carnes (libero) and Madeline Hooker (middle) and sophomore Bella Rose (outside hitter) were selected for the All-Tournament Team. Heritage Christian also had four players picked in senior libero Madison Brantley and juniors Lilli Bray and Eleanor Loggie (middles) and Ellie Shipman (outside hitter).
Division 2A: Ovilla Christian 3-0 Concordia High (25-15, 28-26, 25-23)
The Ovilla Christian Eagles from Red Oak returned to the top of the podium in the division after having won the state title in three consecutive seasons between 2018 and 2020. In the final, they won two tight sets to overpower the Concordia High Cardinals from Pflugerville in three.
Senior libero Gabi Noice, junior setter London Upchurch, sophomore middle Sophie Henry and sophomore outside hitter Zoey Hensley represented the champions in the All-Tournament Team. Runners-up Concordia High sent junior right side Calissa Allison, senior setter Emma Pritchett, senior libero Emery Pomroy and junior outside hitter Emily Daves to the ideal formation.
