Wisconsin Top 250 All Expo Team - Session 1

Sunday's Top 250 at [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] brought top athletes across the state, as well as some from Illinois as well. The first session consisted of 2023 and 2024 athletes and they sure did shine. We came together to make the Session 1 All Expo Team with some of the top performances of the morning. These athletes will take different routes for their club season in 2023, but remember the names, they will be ones who can make an impact at the next level.   <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/11/23-Dohs-scaled-e1669070208720-1024x724.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-248752" width="314" height="222"/></figure>   [player_tooltip player_id='122464' first='Kaitlyn' last='Dohs']   Class of 2024 - Oak Creek - Libero/OH   [program_tooltip program_id='431479' first='Wisconsin' last='Juniors']   Dohs is an extremely dynamic athlete. She stuck to the backrow Sunday, but showed her all around skill set with how she could serve receive and anticipate the next ball. She was one of a few Oak Creek and Wisconsin Junior athletes who had big performances. She checks all the boxes when it comes to her skill, but she also has a lot of positive intangibles in her favor. An All-State athlete for Sauk Prairie who was the D2 runner-up, she brings confidence, a winning presence to the court. She plays under control but can also keep the rally alive with an extra touch. Apel has played with a solid group in the Madison area where they have played for [program_tooltip program_id='431531' first='Capital' last='Volleyball Academy']. She was part of the [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 16 Navy team this summer, winning the 16 National Division in Indy. On Sunday, she showed that she can flat out fly and see what spot is open. She can score in and out of system. Her [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 17 Navy team will have big goals ahead of them in 2023.     <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/11/38-Paige-Steinmetz.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-248718" width="344" height="229"/></figure>   [player_tooltip player_id='179085' first='Paige' last='Steinmetz']   Class of 2024 - Chippewa Falls - Pin Hitter   [program_tooltip program_id='428580' first='Eau' last='Claire Air']   Steinmetz just brings the hammer. The ball sounds different when she makes contact on her swing. An All State pick from the state qualifying team in Chippewa Falls as well as the Big Rivers Conference Player of the Year, Steinmetz brings a lot of explosiveness to the pin. What I really noticed was how comfortable she looked on the right and left side. She is a six rotation outside who can serve receive, pass, and score in a variety of ways. With her all around skill set, it is apparent how well Regas is trained playing for [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] and Barrington. So consistent, just solid. Robinson and Steinmetz teamed with for Chippewa Falls this last high school season, punching their ticket to state for the first time. Robinson is another six rotation pin who can do it all. She plays with such a motor and her athleticism shows in everything that she does. She's a setter first, receiving the ball high, looking to jump set and push tempo. If she's not setting, she's looking to swing on the right side. She is extremely dynamic and a multi-sport athlete playing basketball and even winning a state title in soccer. A definite presence where she looked to lead and get her attackers in a spot to be successful, which can be difficult in a showcase setting. She plays with quite a motor and shows some big time grit as well. She preps at Warren Township High School in Northern Illinois and will play for [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] this 2023 club season.       <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/11/12-Claudia-Merizon-scaled-e1669068410119-1024x829.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-248719" width="295" height="239"/></figure>   [player_tooltip player_id='122520' first='Claudia' last='Merizon']   Class of 2024 - Neenah - Right Side   Impact   Merizon has a really unique skills set where she is a six rotation, high flying right side. She can serve receive, pass, and transition well from pass to attack where she can fly and hammer. I've seen Merizon play the last couple years, but her game has really developed and is polished as a 2024 prospect. She will play for the Impact 18 National squad out of Appleton.     <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/11/DSC05347-scaled-e1669069116483-1024x784.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-248736" width="300" height="230"/></figure>   [player_tooltip player_id='122468' first='Rylea' last='Alvin']   Class of 2024 - Randolph - Middle Blocker   [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting']   Alvin was out last year with a knee injury, but she is back looking really physical, moving laterally extremely well, and is causing problems for the attackers on the other side of the net. With her length and athleticism, she will be a really solid pick up at the next level where her ceiling of potential is incredibly high. She played in the D3 State Tournament this fall and will be eager to get back on the court with her [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] 17 Gold squad.     <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/BreitNelson/status/1594366159624839172?s=20&t=cfaJQJCqb8qGR86eYp0Abw </div></figure>   [player_tooltip player_id='211465' first='Natalia' last='Farrugia']   Class of 2024 - Mukwonago - Middle Blocker   262 Attack   I remember seeing Farrugia play for 262 Attack and most recently at Mukwonago, but this past weekend when she was able to do some different drills I could really see her athleticism and physicality which then translated to competitive play. She's always been a big leaper where she has plenty of hangtime, but now she is able to really make an impact offensively, defensively, and incorporate a high IQ as well.  She's a hidden gem that could be a steal at the next level.
