Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most. We watched tons of matches this year and covered a lot of athletes in order to determine who was the best of the best. All of the wonderful players made it very difficult to decide both nominees and who eventually won due to their performances. Please help us congratulate these winners of our prestigious All-State Awards.
1st Team All State Selection: Outside
Nayeli Gonzalez Nayeli Gonzalez 6'2" | MB Cornerstone Christian | 2023 State #35 Nation TX [2023] 6-2 Outside (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Iowa State University)
Nayeli is currently ranked as the 3rd best overall prospect in the 2023 class in the entire state of Texas. She is also listed as the 30th best overall prospect in the nation according to our national rankings. She plays at Cornerstone Christian High School and also the famed Alamo club program out of the San Antonio area. Our last article had stated the following about her, “The amount of power that this young woman has in her entire body is amazing. She has been on a tear this year and has already tallied 573 kills on an amazing .377 hitting percentage. Cornerstone Christian has been listed as one of the top high school volleyball teams in the entire country and Nayeli is a huge reason why. Her offensive production has been stellar to say the least. She is currently 6th in the entire state in scoring for seniors.” She also added 117 total blocks, 9 digs and 8 aces. We watched Nayeli decimate every team that she went up against this year. Her school team is not part of any conference so they play an independent schedule consisting of a lot of traveling to tournaments both in Texas and to many other states. She was one of the main reasons why Cornerstone was ranked as one of the best school teams in the entire nation. I got to watch her in person this year and I am not sure there was a more dominant player. This is the reason why she has earned 1st Team All-State for our publication. Please help us congratulate her on the honor.
1st Team All State Selection: Outside
Bianna Muoneke Bianna Muoneke 6'0" | OH Cy Ranch | 2023 State #80 Nation TX [2023] 6-0 Outside (HS: Cy Ranch/Club: Houston Juniors /Verbal: Texas A&M)
Bianna is currently ranked as the 11th best overall prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She stars on the outside for Cypress Ranch high school and also for the awesome Houston Juniors program. I just profiled her with an article last month and here is what I stated, “While I watched her at the Volleypalooza tourney, Miss Muoneke was stellar to say the least in every aspect of the sport. She had almost every spectator in awe of her amazing vertical with every attack. Just when her team needed it, she seemed to revive them with a power shot. The entire varsity team would be electrified with energy with every swing. She has been on a tear this year and has already tallied 810 kills on a whopping .401 hitting percentage. She has her team ranked in the top five in almost every publication’s rankings.” We watched this young lady in person and she was unstoppable on the pins. I love how she rises up off of the floor so effortlessly and unleashes fury on her opponents. She is so much more than a scorer, although, everyone sees that about her first. What true coaches understand about her game is how amazing of a defensive player she is. Her coach allows her to take up so much space in the back row because she has enormous range. She had 73 total blocks and also tallied 393 digs on the year, which kept her squad in every game. Please help us congratulate her on earning 1st Team All-State for our publication.
