Class of 2024 1st Team All-State – Liberos

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We are proud to announce our Prep Dig All-State Teams.&nbsp; Our All-State players are considered to have played the best at their respective position THIS YEAR.&nbsp; Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.&nbsp; We watched tons of matches this year and covered a lot of athletes in order to determine who was the best of the best.&nbsp; All of the wonderful players made it very difficult to decide both nominees and who eventually won due to their performances.&nbsp; Please help us congratulate these winners of our prestigious All-State Awards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1^st Team All State Selection:&nbsp; Libero</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='142213' first='Lola' last='Davila']&nbsp;[2024] 5-6 Libero (HS: Brandeis/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Texas Tech)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"align":"right","id":192345,"width":209,"height":263,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2022/04/Lola-Davila-e1651018471143.jpg?w=814" alt="" class="wp-image-192345" width="209" height="263" /></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lola is currently ranked as the 79^th&nbsp;best overall prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but she will likely be moving on up as she has earned it with her play. &nbsp;She plays high school volleyball at Brandeis High School and also club for Alamo out of the San Antonio area. &nbsp;I wrote an article previously on her and here is a little of what we stated, <em>“In a club that is known for its amazing liberos, Lola is anointed as the next one.&nbsp; She is a stud defensively and has amazing serve receive skills.&nbsp; &nbsp;Her base is always very well balanced and strong, which means that she is extremely coachable.&nbsp; You can see it when you see her posture and body control before, during and after contact in serve receive.&nbsp; She is a floor general in the back row and when you watch her play you can see her leadership.&nbsp; I haven't seen a libero get split out so much in serve receive and be able to cover so much ground and still deliver a beautiful ball to her setter in a while.&nbsp;Alamo routinely divides the court in half in serve receive and lets Lola determine where she needs to be in order to pass nails.&nbsp; As a coach, this is the best respect you can give a libero and Miss Davila commands it.”&nbsp; </em>She had a fantastic junior season in which she helped her team to a 29-16 overall record and a district record of 12-4.&nbsp; Her dig total is what caught our eye as she tallied 935 digs on the year.&nbsp; She also had 1,090 service receptions, 65 aces, and 111 assists.&nbsp; Miss Davila has been patrolling and commanding the back row well for a while now and her junior season was a perfect example of just how special she truly is in the position.&nbsp; Based on her overall performance amongst players in her grad class, we have chosen her for 1^st Team All-State.&nbsp; Please help us congratulate her on the honor.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1^st Team All State Selection:&nbsp; Libero</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='197081' first='Carly' last='Chavez']&nbsp;[2024] 5-7 Libero (HS: O'Connor/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"align":"left","id":188606,"width":201,"height":301,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image alignleft size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2022/04/49-Carly-Chavez-e1649109060906.jpg?w=683" alt="" class="wp-image-188606" width="201" height="301" /></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carly is currently ranked as the 122^nd&nbsp;prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but she should be moving up in the next update based on what we saw this season.&nbsp; She plays for O'Connor High School and also for the famed Alamo volleyball club program.&nbsp; We profiled her last month and here is a little from our last article,&nbsp;<em>“When the spotlight shines on people, some have the propensity to fold under the pressure, but not Miss Chavez.&nbsp; She was very welcoming of the spotlight and looked very good in both individual drills and team play. &nbsp;Carly impressed me greatly with her defensive range.&nbsp; There were not a lot of balls that dropped near her zone when I watched.&nbsp; Alamo's success this season is a direct correlation to both her serve receive and defense.&nbsp; This young lady is able to fly all over the court and keep the ball alive for her team to stay in the rally.”&nbsp;&nbsp;</em>This season she showed out to everyone who was watching.&nbsp; She amassed 902 digs, 560 service receptions, 91 assists, 38 aces, and even added a kill.&nbsp; She helped lead O'Connor to an amazing 42-5 overall record and a perfect district record of 16-0.&nbsp; Their deep run in the UIL State Playoffs is a direct result of her defensive effort and ball control to keep their offense running smooth.&nbsp; When I watch Carly play, I am amazed at her focus.&nbsp; She has her eyes fixed on the prize and she looks super serious.&nbsp; That kind of unwavering attention is a cornerstone of who she is as a libero.&nbsp; She has the foot speed to play at the next level and whoever picks her up will be delighted in what they get.&nbsp;
