There was a ton of talent at the gym and, as we do in each event of the series, it’s time to give a shoutout to some of the players who stood out the most. As we continue to feature the players that left a very good impression at the Texas Tornados courts, let’s now look at the outside hitters.
Williams was among the outside hitters that combined power and skills in a great way. Versatility and craftiness are two skills that characterize her game as Williams is the kind of player that will jump hard and hit the ball hard on offensive drills and play defense with great efficiency and impressive dedication. She’s very complete and is getting more and consistency over the years, developing into a really fun to watch and productive pin hitter in the Houston area.

Prodan was one of the most explosive outside hitters out there, jumping really well and using her quick arm to score. Every time she went up to hit a ball, we knew something good was going to happen as she was very efficient and resourceful with her offense, displaying a well-diversified arsenal. Prodan also showcased a very strong game on the backcourt, using her great positioning and excellent ball control to get several digs during the scrimmages.

One of the several freshmen that brought incredible energy to the event, Love stood out as one of the most promising outside hitters during the day. She’s very long and athletic and her offense is one of the main parts of her game. Love jumps well and has a very powerful right arm, but also an impressive variation with her swings. She also made great plays on defense, displaying good positioning and a lot of hustle. Her attitude on the court was also second-to-none as she was always pushing and cheering on other players.

Owens was another all-around outside hitter to produce on both sides of the ball during out Top 250 Expo. She’s very complete offensively and can score in a variety of ways. Owens has good firepower and a very quick right arm, but is also capable of using finesse. Her wrist is excellent and she can place the ball wherever she wants on the court and also tool the block with ease. She’s also very technically skilled and does a solid job on the backcourt.
Rivich stood out early on the hitting drills. She’s very explosive, jumps well, has a great body control and tremendous arm power. I saw her hit balls in every possible direction from the left and right, finding impressive angles and going for them with great accuracy. Rivich also proved to be a very good backcourt player and emerged as an excellent passer during the scrimmages.
