#1, Leah Stinson (Valley)– I can’t tell you how much I love this top spot. Leah Stinson was a freshman this past year at Valley High School, and she played in 4 sets and scored 12 aces! This means her average for service aces per set was a flat 3.0 making her the top server in the state! Got to love statistics. Stinson is just a freshman for Valley, so she has a lot of growing to do but will definitely aid this learning team in the future. It’s hard to go back to the service line when you first enter the game and know that’s your only role, but Leah Stinson passed the test with flying colors!
#2, Emily Wilson (Middlesboro)– A super senior server from Middlesboro High School, Emily Wilson led the team behind the service line with 120 aces in 56 sets. Averaging 2.14 aces per set, Emily Wilson always showed out with her heavy arm and hard top-spin floater. You can seriously change any game by just serving aggressively, and you could tell that was always Emily Wilson’s motto. If you serve tough, everything else will fall into place. For example, Middlesboro played in the 13th Region All “A” Classic for 2 matches, and Emily Wilson scored 9 aces in the first three setter against Lynn Camp and then 8 aces in a two set battle against Harlan. Wilson will be missed for Middlesboro!
#3, Madison Jones (Knox Central)– Tallying the single-most aces in the state, senior Madison Jones for Knox Central was a leader from the service line with 169 aces in 91 sets! She averaged 1.86 aces per set which are just insane numbers for any high school athlete. Not only can this girl serve aggressively, Madison Jones can legit do it all where she led the squad in kills with 364 and averaged 4.0 kills a set then added 82 blocks, 94 assists, and 369 digs. Jones led Knox Central to a district championship where she had 36 kills, 5 blocks, 8 assists, 23 digs, and 5 service aces! Madison Jones was truly a stud, and it all started with her serve!
#4, Nevaeh Brown (Shawnee)– A junior that led her team in service aces, Nevaeh Brown was a dominant force behind the service line for Shawnee. In just 44 sets, she tallied 75 service aces and averaged 1.70 aces per set. In a two set battle against Francis Parker, Brown scored 5 service aces because of her fearless attitude and go-getter personality. Nevaeh Brown has one year left for Shawnee and will become a leader not just serving wise but off the court too!
#5, Autumn Brock (Bell County)– To end the top five slots, we have a senior setter from Bell County, Autumn Brock, who had 154 aces in 93 sets which averaged 1.66 aces per set! Brock has this natural change of pace serve that is super hard to pass after she just bombed a ball deep in the court. Plus, Autumn Brock also leads the team as a setter with 42 kills, 347 assists, and 111 digs. When you have a setter that can also lead from the service line, it truly empowers any squad and makes them fight harder. Congrats to Brock for a record-breaking year for Bell County where she helped the team to a runner-up finish in district and second round appearance in region!
