Since all five on this list can hit from either pin, then I’m not going to limit what they can do for colleges when they graduate. Here are five kids you need to know going into club season that will hammer away on either pin.
Alexis Maesch Alexis Maesch 5'10" | RS Avon | 2024 State IN , 5-10 RS, Avon, Circle City
A lefty banger through and through, Alexis is smart, strong and explosive. She was the primary attacker for her high school team this past season (over 500 kills in her career), and looks to be the same at Circle. Her older sister, Abby, plays at Georgia. She’s even spent a little time as a setter.
Lilly Tappel Lilly Tappel 5'10" | OH Providence | 2024 State IN , 5-10 OH, Providence, Union
Makenzie Wagner Makenzie Wagner 5'10" | RS Providence | 2024 State IN , 5-10 RS, Providence, Union
I had to pair these two together because they are the two attackers that led the Pioneers to a 3A state title this past season. They also earned First Team All-State honors, which were much deserved. The pair pounded over 500 kills combined this past fall, and should do the same next fall going for another state title. (Too soon? Nah.) Both are explosive, have a high volleyball IQ, and can terminate at will. And their ball control? It goes without saying, as they are Union lifers.
Marin Sanchez Marin Sanchez 5'10" | OH Andrean | 2024 State IN , 5-10 OH, Andrean, Epic United
From “the region”, Marin has been the driving offensive force for the Fighting 59ers for a few seasons now. Inching towards the 1k mark in career kills, Marin also earned 2A First Team All-State honors this past fall, which should go nicely with her state championship trophy from 2021. She is a mature and athletic six-rotation outside that can play bigger than her frame and always seems to be on a winning program.
Delaney Lawson Delaney Lawson 6'2" | OH Bellmont | 2024 State IN , 6-1 OH, Bellmont, Munciana
Speaking of 1000 career kills and a First Team nod, Delaney had her best season yet this past fall averaging nearly five kills per set while hitting north of .350 in their Uber-tough schedule. Her ability to make blocks obsolete is her calling card, while her long and lean build is prototypical of high-level high school, club and college pin play. Driven, focused and a gym rat, it’s only a matter of time before Delaney makes a commitment to a high-level program.
