As Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS, the team took home an Open national championship and competed at the highest levels all season.
As the team shifts to 2023, there are still plenty of high expectations for Legacy’s 2025s, as the class is proving to be at an elite level in the state.
Legacy 16-1 ADIDAS
Tyler Strom takes on the head coaching for this talented group.
One piece that won’t be with them this year is standout outside Gabby DiVita Gabby DiVita 6'1" | OH Grosse Pt. South | 2026 State MI . The 2026 hitter that was a driving force for Legacy last year is playing with her fellow classmates this year with 15-1 ADIDAS.
That doesn’t mean the team won’t have plenty of hitting power. It will also still have the offense run by Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI . The 6’3” setter is proving to be one of the top prospects in the Class of 2025 nationally, and has Legacy always a contender to beat the best in the country.
To help replace DiVita, Legacy is bringing in Keely Culler out of Archbold in Ohio. She was an All-State talent with a live arm that adds great depth to the squad. Marie Laurio Marie Laurio 5'10" | OH Saline | 2025 State #147 Nation MI is in line for a bigger role with the squad after having a breakout sophomore season with Saline. Molly Reck Molly Reck 5'10" | OH Northville | 2025 State MI and Mallory Reck Mallory Reck 5'10" | RS Northville | 2025 State MI were consistent pieces for the squad last year and bring a lot of power to the net. Mercy’s Jillian Collins Jillian Collins 5'11" | OH Mercy | 2025 State MI also has a lot of upside and is a player that can take over a game.
In the middle Addison Williams Addison Williams 6'2" | MB South Lyon East | 2025 State MI comes into the year healthy, which is a big boost for Legacy. At 6’2”, Williams provides another imposing middle option to go alongside Olivia Grenadier Olivia Grenadier 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2025 State #91 Nation MI . Grenadier had an All-American club season in 2022 and followed that up with a dominant prep season at Country Day. The 6’1” middle is playing with plenty of confidence and finding ways to take her game to another level.
Defensively, the team relies a lot on Devin Dzienny, an elite libero from St. Ursula Academy in Ohio. She was an unsung hero for Legacy last year and is the reason the offense is allowed to be as dominant as it is. Dzienny has been as consistent as it comes in the back row and is already a very battle-tested libero.
This squad isn’t being shy about pushing itself, as it played in the 17 Open of the JVA Rock ‘N Rumble a few weeks ago. They went 4-3 for the weekend and lost in the Silver Bracket final to finish eighth.
In the losses, the majority of sets were decided by five points or less. Expect this team to once again compete on the national level and be a top-10 squad throughout the year.
Legacy 16-2 ADIDAS
Brian Theut will be coaching this squad in 2023.
16-2 ADIDAS will be a running a 2-setter system and is filled with a lot of dynamic and powerful attackers.
Brooke Hehl Brooke Hehl 5'8" | S Lutheran Northwest | 2025 State MI , Alivia Brown Alivia Brown 5'9" | DS/L Temperance Bedford | 2025 State MI and Kathleen Nelson Kathleen Nelson 5'9" | OH Lakeland | 2025 State MI can all handle setting duties, while Brown will also see time on the right side and Nelson can step in on the right or play DS. The setting depth gives the entire roster a lot of flexibility while keeping the offense up-tempo.
Emily Edwards Emily Edwards 5'8" | OH Rochester Adams | 2025 State MI and Amelia Klos Amelia Klos 6'0" | OH Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI are a pair of impressive outsides that have shown the ability to attack from anywhere on the floor. Both also move very well defensively. They each bring an all-around game for the team to rely on.
In the middle Isabelle Earley, Kadie Tarasiewicz Kadie Tarasiewicz 6'0" | MB Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory | 2025 State MI and Layla Kouatli Layla Kouatli 5'11" | MB Greenhills | 2025 MI give the team three long middles to work with. All three have high motors and have high ceilings for growth. The 2023 club season should bring the most out of them as they compete against the best of the best.
Defensively, Jessica Lee Jessica Lee 5'8" | DS/L Skyline | 2025 State MI and Ashlyn Andrzejewski will be the primary defenders on the roster. Each is very scrappy and plays the position with a lot of determination and energy.
This team also opened the season at the JVA Rock ‘N Rumble two weeks ago. While they struggled to get wins in the 16 Open, they were in the mix with each loss. As the players settle into their roles and they start to grind out some of the close sets, they are likely to take off.
