Continue ReadingNext in our series of Club Team Previews is an Excel NW 17 Lux team made up of several Southeast Washington standouts. Kristen Lee and Haley Yoder will be the coaches training the team as it makes its way through the 2023 club season. This group is experienced, with versatility and skill. We preview some of the players who will contribute this season.
Chilton is an athletic middle who has outstanding timing on the block. She will deliver a power tip on offense, using her length to power it down to the court quickly, or throw it to a corner when there is an opening. Her effort is excellent moving her feet and staying available for her setter, and Chilton is difficult to beat in joust situations.

Alexandra Ursache
Alexandra Ursache
The Mountain View junior posted great dig numbers this season, clocking in at 4.1 per set and handling 382 serves. Playing libero, she worked well reading hitters from the left back position. Rather than sit behind the blockers, she looks to find the holes and play the attacker there. Ursache has a live arm as a server, driving a hard knuckler with pace at the opposing backlines.
Millspaugh is a good athlete who uses quickness and outstanding hangtime to score from the seam and against bigger blockers before they can set up. That same quickness lets her reach 50/50 balls and any overpass before a defense is ready. She played big in matches against two of the best teams in the state in Columbia River and Ridgefield.
Grace Hadaller
Grace Hadaller
A small school star, Hadaller is powerful and has a good reach at 6’1. The outside hitter was a second team all-league selection for the Fighting Ducks, and played her best against one the better schools in the state in 2B, Kalama. Hadaller likes to power the ball through the block, and she finds the line when given the opportunity.
Makenna Gamby
Makenna Gamby
Gamby has a strong arm, and she uses it well from the opposite position. She is incredibly versatile, and could be used at setter, outside hitter and libero if needed this season. She is enthusiastic and brings the energy on each play, celebrating with and for here team. As a passer she has a rock solid platform, and when hitting she can use the line to score. Her versatility will be a big factor in this squads overall success.
Natalie Bair
Natalie Bair
The Kelso setter will be one of the primary players running the show for Excel 17 Lux team this season. She has a wicked short serve and a good touch with her back sets, the Excel hitters should have great opportunities to score. Bair makes the right decision on feeding the hot attacker or who has the best matchup, she processes the game at a high level.
The rest of the team includes Emmelynn Cecil at DS/L, Sami Tyler Sami Tyler 6'0" | MB Camas | 2024 State WA an excellent front-line attacker, Alexis Echols Alexis Echols 5'11" | RS Evergreen | 2024 State WA , and Lauren Hudson at the pins, and Eliyah Bennet rounding out the defense at DS/L.
