Continue ReadingI am constantly taking notes throughout a tournament weekend. Some will be on social media posts, others Top Performers, and some in articles. I am always excited about new names that emerge in a tournament weekend and can follow their progress throughout a season. There were plenty of new names this weekend at the Prep Dig Resolution that will be ones to watch this season and even into the Wisconsin high school season. Some of finishing their careers and others just starting. Here are the new names from the Prep Dig Resolution that landed on my notes app.
Olivia Witkowski – FC Elite 16 Blue
Outside Hitter – Class of 2025
FC Elite 16 Blue has a really fun team where for early January, they really clicked. One big swing on the outside is Olivia Witowski. She’s not afraid to be aggressive and really go for the kill. She has a strong fundamental foundation as an outside hitter. She is only going to get better and will be building a ton of momentum heading into her junior year. This team finished second in 16 Club and is going to win a lot of games this season.
Siena Busalacchi Siena Busalacchi 6'0" | MB Appleton West | 2024 State WI – Impact 17 National
Middle Blocker Class of 2024
I recently posted on Twitter about what college coaches need for 2023s, and one coach posted, “Middles, like everyone else in the country”. Busalacchi is a middle from the Class of 2024 that could be an impact athlete at the next level. She’s long, strong, and really physical at the net. The surface is just being scratched for her. Her Impact 17 National team out of Appleton will be competing at the Northern Lights Qualifier this weekend.
Katelyn Parish – FVP 18 National
Outside Hitter – Class of 2024
Parish was really solid for FVP 18 National this past weekend where she made an impact on the outside. She has great hand contact and was able to hit a hard cross shot to score points. FVP is really growing as a club and will be a club to watch out of the Fox Valley area in 2023.
Norah Merow Norah Merow 6'1" | MB Port Washington | 2026 State WI – I AM VBC 15 Red
Middle Blocker – Class of 2026
I AM VBC out of the Grafton area has been consistently on the rise with all of their teams. Their top teams (Red) won some big matches this past weekend. The 15 Red team narrowly missed out on the 15 Open gold bracket and will be a team to watch this season. In the middle was Norah Merow Norah Merow 6'1" | MB Port Washington | 2026 State WI out of Port Washington was a force offensively and defensively. She has a lot of athleticism and physicality to cause the other side problems. She is also one to keep tabs on at the hoops side as well.
Ella Schumacher Ella Schumacher OH Sussex Hamilton | 2024 State WI – 262 Attack 17 Savage
Outside Hitter – Class of 2024
262 has a really balanced attack with one of their key outside hitters being Ella Schumacher Ella Schumacher OH Sussex Hamilton | 2024 State WI . This Class of 2024 athlete is extremely explosive and was a big time point scorer from the outside. Another athlete who was key for 262 on the outside was Makayla Brandenburg who provided a big swing and had plenty of kills for 262 this weekend.
Elite Alliance 17-1
This Elite Alliance squad comes from the La Crosse area where it’s plenty of multisport athletes who can do a little bit of everything. This team went 3-0 in pool play and was a point away from advancing to the gold bracket in the crossover. Attackers Izzy Jahr (Holmen) and Bryne Swenson (Virocqua) scored a lot of points this weekend and had a major impact. Kinlee Gratton preps at West Salem where she is so fundamentally sound as a setter. She is so poised on the court and makes the rest of the game simple for her team. Keep these Juniors on the radar!
Emily Johnson – Wisconsin Premier 17-Teal
Class of 2026 – Right Side
Having a lefty who can score points can give teams such an advantage. Johnson was doing that for Wisconsin Premier 15 Teal this weekend. She was very dynamic on the right side where she had great contact and could score points for her team in multiple ways.
Ella Lindgren Ella Lindgren DS/L Neenah | 2026 WI – FC Elite 15 White
Class of 2026 – Libero
This FC Elite 15 White squad won a lot of close matches this weekend as they finished 2nd overall in 15 Open. There was a lot of balance on this team, but the first contact would come from libero Ella Lindgren Ella Lindgren DS/L Neenah | 2026 WI . Lindgren is another athlete who has great poise, she moves efficiently, she has great platform control, and provides a really steady confidence on the court. There’s a lot of potential with this squad who seems to have developed a strong chemistry early in the season.
Alayna Geiser Alayna Geiser 5'6" | OH Chilton | 2025 State WI – Impact 16 National
Class of 2025 – Outside Hitter
Great vibes from Geiser. This outside hitter packs a mean punch when she takes a swing. She has an aggressive approach and no fear type of swing where she is going to make something happen on the pin. She was key for Impact 16 National who narrowly missed out on the gold bracket with a three set loss to Sting 16 White. Geiser is a multi-sport athlete who will be one to continue having a major influence on their side of the net (and giving the opposite side of the net problems).
