They are not afraid to get on the floor or joust an opponent at the net. The momentum setters bring to the court is part of what helps a team win games. Good sets produce great kills that can capitalize with scoring. Here are five setters who make things happen.
Ayva Ostovar Ayva Ostovar 5’6″ | S Mater Dei | 2025 State CA will get to a ball just about anywhere on the court. She has nice jump sets with limited to no spin on the ball. Her quick short sets to the middle are perfectly executed to score. She has smooth hands and a very nice back set; spreading the ball around. Ostovar does not hesitate to get on the floor and dig a ball even if it’s with one hand. Her pin hitters capitalize on her sets because of her perfection in finding the spots they like. Her hustle on the court makes her stand out on offense and defense. Ostovar makes things happen on the court.

Emily Page
Emily Page is a setter who can better the ball. She gets to the ball quickly and can turn bad passes into good sets and good passes into great sets. Her crosscourt set is a hitter’s dream placement. She is a fast-setter who can beat the ball from all areas of the court. Her quick touch delivers hittable balls to her hitters. Page is poised under pressure and can change the tempo of the offense by knowing which hitter to set if there’s a mismatch at the net. She has a very nice back set and can turn off passes into hittable sets. Page makes things happen on the court.
Claire Hammond
Claire Hammond
Claire Hammond is a high-energy setter with high hands that make it hard to read her sets. She has a nice push out that finds its target by taking advantage of good passes. She has consistent ball placement which helps her hitters score. Her ball height and speed are consistent and on target. Hammond does not fear going up against an opponent at the net by jousting the ball and causing it to fall on the other side. She provides leadership on the court by continually communicating with her teammates. Hammond makes things happen on the court.
Cailin Brokaw
Cailin Brokaw
Cailin Brokaw’s quick footwork allows her to beat the ball to the spot it’s passed to. She is consistently prepared to move around. She knows where to go with the ball by finding her hot hitter and delivering. Between the pass and the kill, Brokaw is in control. Her ball delivery is accurate and effective in getting points on the board. She can set from a variety of positions on the court and reacts quickly to an overpass. Her back sets are on target and her short quick middle sets allow for her hitter to bang the ball straight down. Brokaw makes things happen on the court.
Justice Fuhrmann
Justice Fuhrmann
Justice Fuhrmann is a strategic setter who understands what’s happening on the court so that she can capitalize from each rally. She knows where and how to place the ball for her hitters to score. She has good agility by being able to get to a ball regardless of which direction it goes in. Fuhrmann has good court awareness and can find an open area for a setters dump. When a pass is not perfect, she reacts and turns the set into a possible play. She is prepared to dig any ball blocked back to her side. Fuhrmann makes things happen on the court.
