Hailey Nixon Hailey Nixon 5'5" | DS/L Rockwall-Heath | 2023 State TX / Libero / Summit 18 Blue
Scrappy libero Hailey Nixon Hailey Nixon 5'5" | DS/L Rockwall-Heath | 2023 State TX is uncommitted now, but I can see that changing for her after her performance early this season. Hailey does an excellent job in left-back defense. She isn’t afraid to hit the floor or to dive with one hand, anything to keep the ball in play. From her highlight video below, you can see her aggressive defensive style, and determined play. She can play a hard-driven ball down the line, or play a tough tip or setter dumb. Hailey’s speed and quick read help her to make some incredible defensive plays.
Akire Jones Akire Jones 6'1" | MB Hutto | 2023 State TX / Middle / Austin Skyline Juniors
Huge middle blocker Akire Jones Akire Jones 6'1" | MB Hutto | 2023 State TX is uncommitted as of now. She has an intimidating presence on the net, and her length and size make her a formidable opponent. With a heavy arm and powerful swing, she can do some damage offensively. I would say her strongest area is blocking with huge potential to grow offensively. She has good ball tracking while transitioning, and tries to be present in every play. Akire would be a huge add-on for any team because of what she brings at the net.
Amaya Rodriguez / Outside / Austin Juniors
Uncommitted outside hitter Amaya Rodriguez is solid from the outside position. She has energy, effort, high contact point, a high volleyball IQ, and everything you would expect from an outside hitter to be able to make plays. She is well-rounded and can play defense and serve receive, often playing 6 rotations for both her club and high school teams. I was surprised to see how high Amaya can get on her approach, most of the time well above the opposing block. She will be one to keep an eye on as this club season progresses.
Madison Grekstas / Middle/Pin/ TAV Houston 18 Molten
Heavy-handed outside hitter Madison Grekstas is still uncommitted as of right now. All it would take is for one college to see her hit a ball in rhythm. Her 6’2 size and heavy arm swing make for a potent combination on the pin. I have seen Madison take some swings in person that would make you stop and take another look. She is also versatile, previously being a middle and also hitting very well from the right side. Madison would be a very smart recruiting choice because of her size and the potential offense she brings.
Lila Houston / OH/DS/ Austin Skyline
Utility player Lila Houston disrupts opposing teams with her uncanny ability to tool the block and block opposing teams’ biggest hitters. She is definitely an undersized match-up on the outside, but her verticle and discipline more than makeup for it. Her highlight videos are full of blocks against big hitters, showing that she does it consistently. Her passing and defense are above par which is why she is a great 6 rotation option. Any programs looking for a smart, highly effective outside who is a great blocker will be thrilled to find Lila.
