Unfortunately, between coaching my team and how the format of the tournament was set up, I was unable to watch enough of the 16s and 17/18s to write about but, we are taking a look those players who stood out as some of the tournaments best in the 15s age division.
Gold Bracket:
1st- Crushers 15 BOOM (DE)
2nd- FSJ 14 Elite (DE)
3rd- Virago 15-1 (OK)
3rd- UPVBC 15 Pink (OK)
Setter:
Camryn Burress #8, She plays for Rise 15-2. I was a huge fan of how well she is able to set against the flow and give her pins a chance at a 1v1 situation. Setters are known for having nice hands, she is that setter. Soft touch and strong finish makes for a consistent set. Looking forward to catching this team down the road and see her sling the ball around the court.
Outside Hitter:
Karlie Jones Karlie Jones 5'9" | OH Lincoln Christian | 2026 OK #17, She plays for UPVBC 15 Pink. She impacts the game more than just doing a great job of snapping on the ball and working to the deep corners. She also does an awesome job in serve receive for UPVBC Pink. Karlie is a playmaker and does a great job of having an upbeat body language while she plays.
Defensive Specialist:
Jayla Wallace Jayla Wallace DS/L Broken Arrow | 2026 OK #22, She plays for UPVBC 15 Pink. Another huge reason UPVBC Pink went to gold and finished tied for 3rd. We have written about Jayla before and rightfully so. She does a great job in the back row for Coach Walker and company. I saw her make some sliding and diving digs that gave her team a big spark when they needed it.
Right Side Hitter:
Avery Lafferty #14, She plays for OK Charge 14-2. Her future is bright and I look forward to covering it as it unfolds. She hits in the front row but the added benefit is she also sets in the back row. This kind of versatility will definitely add value to add player. I was able to watch her take a few line shots and score. She also provided a solid blocking presence at the net for her team. This was a solid team all around and Avery is just one of many that contribute in a big way.
Middle Blocker:
Aynslee Coad #34, She plays for Crushers 15 BOOM. She may not jump as high as her other middle blocker but she runs at a tempo that is equally as impressive. Not only does she go fast and make blockers commit to her but she also consistently hits to the deep corners. This puts a ton of pressure on the middle back to decide which side to shade. Her and her team are equally impressive. There is a reason they are ranked 4th best in Arkansas and top 155 in the nation. If you get the chance to see this 15s team play, take it!
